A trusted source has
informed Joystiq that the Wal-Mart internal internet known as "The Wire" contains an entry for a new
Halo game entitled
Halo "Blue". According to the entry,
Halo "Blue" is an M rated shooter and it's set to release on September 30 this year. Of course, we've been hearing plenty of
rumors about Bungie projects in the last few days.
Halo "Blue" could easily be a part of all that. Will it be the rumored strategy title? Peter Jackson's
Halo Project? With the game supposedly coming out this year, it could easily be a repackaged
Halo 3 with bonus content -- perhaps all the DLC released thus far.
We al but certain that Bungie will be
announcing something during the Microsoft Press Briefing that's only a few hours away. More than likely, we'll know whether or not it's
Halo "Blue."

I keep thinking of credit cards with that "Blue" thing.
High-Brow Mouse @ Jul 14th 2008 2:09AM

Terrence Stasse @ Jul 14th 2008 2:20AM
Oh, that would be friggin' great if that was really it XD
High-Brow Mouse @ Jul 14th 2008 2:24AM
The only thing is though if you look closely at the listing it also says Rated "M" and "Shooter" I don't know though... it IS walzmart after all.
Roto13 @ Jul 14th 2008 2:27AM
Master Chief talks about his dead girlfriend. It looks like the 70s.
Procris @ Jul 14th 2008 2:30AM
Yeah... its way to early for a new game from Bungie and since we've heard 0 information from whatever Peter Jackson's project is, its safe to assume it won't be that either.
I'm going to guess it could be a new edition of Halo 3, with the DLC so far added in like you mentioned or a DLC disk similar to how the maps were all released on a separate disk for Halo 2.
cranium @ Jul 14th 2008 11:35AM
not a bad guess, though the map pack disk for halo 2 was simply called "halo 2 multiplayer map pack".
kinda makes you think if it as the same thing but for halo 3 they'd call it "halo 3 multiplayer map pack"
keep guessing though. in an hour's time we'll know the real answer. there's little time left to rampantly speculate (that's the real fun for me)

They could have made a HD remake of Halo(1): Combat Evolved using the Halo3-engine.
Put some new stuff in, got some stuff out, edit some bits (Library?) and call it a Director's Cut or sumting.
Remade all the multiplayer maps to be Xbox Live compatible and also to be used on Halo3.
Sell the game for 30 dollars and U got a winner there.
Still think part1 was the greatest, like Matrix(1), I did not have the same emotional response for its sequels (gameplay/story singleplayer campaign wise).
If remake is succesfull, they can do Halo2 remake, to make even more money and give x360 owners the complete Halo HD remake/remastered Director's Cut series for their system.
Or maybe it's Halo with Smurfs, something like the Lego videogameseries (StarWars, Indiana Jones etc).
joey @ Jul 14th 2008 11:02AM
Have anyone ever remade a 6-year-old game in HD? Beside arcades.
Not that it's not a good idea.
HALO 3 just doesn't need any more LIVE competition.
Vcize @ Jul 14th 2008 2:32AM
September 30th sounds way too soon for a game we've heard nothing about.
Dwag @ Jul 14th 2008 3:04AM
It could be a multiplayer only version of Halo with more people added into the fray and those DLC maps? I'm hoping for it to be what MageGriff said but with an actually game(Halo 3) included and those DLC(Legendary,Heroic,Cold storage and maybe even those maps that haven't been yet so people will want to buy this for the extra content).
Halo 3 might 10 million by December.
I think it's too soon for them to make a remake of Halo:CE I think they should give it a decade before they remake it so it will have more of an impact.
I also think it's too soon to release a brand new Bungie Halo game yet even if those Gamespot rumors are true I think next year will be a perfect time to release a brand new Halo(not Halo 4) so that MS can have a good line up for next year and keep the heat going cause MS always has something planned for the year after.
Dwag @ Jul 14th 2008 3:05AM
Halo"Blue" says gay hope that title is just a code name.
Arnon @ Jul 14th 2008 3:20AM
The only thing I'm wanting of Halo is a complete remake of Halo: Combat Evolved.. With HD graphics, achievements, and multiplayer.. Yup... that would put the icing on the cake for the 360.
Rob Bourne @ Jul 14th 2008 4:24AM
Blue = cold?
My guess is a DLC disc with Cold Storage headlining.
Serioudly doubt it's a new game entirely or a remake of an old one. Something like that would never have stayed under wraps.
Sneaky @ Jul 14th 2008 5:25AM
If this is real which i kind of doubt, It could be related to the squad based shooter rumors.
Halo Blue as in Blue Team.
For one i would love a HD Halo CE
Maverick Saturn @ Jul 14th 2008 8:57AM
MMOFPS anyone?
Chase @ Jul 14th 2008 5:34AM
Alright! A hybrid game crossing the Halo series with, USA Network original series, Pacific Blue!
I call Mario Lopez in Hayabusa, flame-crotch short-shorts.
Conor @ Jul 14th 2008 6:16AM
I'm even more excited for Microsoft's keynote now!
Maverick Saturn @ Jul 14th 2008 8:57AM
Its Halo 3, you just have a new option of going through campaign in a buit suit :)
duzzyman @ Jul 14th 2008 9:10AM
Halo blue as in blue team? like the story behind the rest of the cheifs team on reach.
LongshotX @ Jul 14th 2008 9:17AM
Blue could refer to the team of Spartans, our hero John-117 belonged too. There were other teams also.
"Blue Team" was made famous and renowned because it was the designation for a prestigious SPARTAN-II-oriented squad whose roster included SPARTAN-117. But because of the ambiguity of this name, "Blue Team" may be used as the plausible callsign for other UNSC military elements. This, however, has not been definitively proven. Blue Team has participated in hundreds of combat missions against a plethora of different foes, including, but not limited to: the Eridanus Rebels, Covenant forces, and Forerunner constructs.
After its conception in 2513, Blue Team usually consisted of five members. The team was originally comprised of SPARTAN-117 (John), SPARTAN-034, (Sam), SPARTAN-087 (Kelly), SPARTAN-058 (Linda), and SPARTAN-104 (Fred). After Sam's death on the Covenant starship in the Chi Ceti System, his vacant spot was taken by SPARTAN-051 (Kurt)[2]. Whenever John wasn't leading Blue Team, Fred normally assumed leadership provided that he wasn't with Red Team.

I'm thinking of Halo 3 with a great emphasis on tactical shooting.
IDK.
Nick @ Jul 14th 2008 9:40AM
Wonder if it's going to be 360's first "bluray" game?
;)
Chance Morgan @ Jul 14th 2008 11:38AM
Methinks you are on to something here???
They announce a BlueRay drive for the 360 quickly followed by Halo3 in BlueRay HD. The Halo Nation will have to buy the BlueRay add-on to complete their obssession, err, collection. Microsoft and bungie can quickly get a couple hundred dollars out of us crazy people (like myself) who will have to have this.
JoP @ Jul 14th 2008 11:19AM
it's probably the exclusive BLUE Spartan E.O.D. figurine
Will @ Jul 14th 2008 1:29PM
I don't think it's true.. if it's a Halo game out in a few months they would definitely be hyping the shit out of it.. way more than 2 months before release.
c-money @ Jul 14th 2008 2:09PM
theres definetly something sweet in the works look at the end of h3 with the chief falling in orbit at to me looks like a deathstar or something. what is that a new enemy or covenants home world?
Obama is a Nazi @ Sep 24th 2008 9:00PM
I hadn't considered the new collection possibility.
I've always wondered why they went to the trouble of re-rendering the first two games.
Still, if that's all it is, maybe that's why Microsoft pulled the announcement.
