It's time to detour off the E3 floor and take a
booth tour with a certain group of developer rockers who actually have carry some real rock cred. We're of course talking about the guys over at Harmonix where they welcomed us into their comfy boot and demoing
Rock Band 2, showing off the new instruments including the
smoke and light kit and the customizable band swag that you can order (stuff like
figures,
tshirts,
posters, etc.) We had a blast at the Harmonix booth, so we advise re-living our rockin' experience by checking out all the musical
gallery pics below.

ok so the rockband sikte shows the new drums and says expansion port for cymbols, ive seen the ION set buit i want to see more rocband drums, what cymbols are they talking about? Are they sellign them seperate?
VPhoenix @ Jul 15th 2008 3:55PM
God, I hope there's a cowbell attachment.
Octantis @ Jul 15th 2008 4:13PM
The cymbals are optional. They will just provide a secondary point to hit rather than the pad. For instance if you are rocking out on red during a solo you can hit the green cymbol right in front of you rather than reaching all the way around (and possibly missing) to green.

looks good. Is the drum set on stage gonna be available as a premium set?
Octantis @ Jul 15th 2008 4:14PM
Yes, and I think that if you buy an attachment from ION it will operate as a set of real electronic drums. Real electronic? Isn't that an oxymoron?

29 fingers will transfer! YAY?

Hey, it's Alex Navarro!

Whats up with the larger guitars in that display case? Anyone have any details on those? They look like game controllers based solely on the fact that they have the Rock Band strum bar, but they appear to be of a more realistic size and build than their smaller counterparts.
If those are premium guitars that will be available from another manufacturer, like the Ion drum-kit, sign me up.

Those are actual Fender Guitars modified to be Limited Edition Rockband controllers. I can't imagine the cost of each one. Has anyone heard how much the Ion drum set will retail for and where I can sign up to get one?
StLouisRibs7734 @ Jul 15th 2008 5:12PM
