Harmonix talks RB1 compatability with Rock Band 2

According to Teasdale, the number of tracks from Rock Band being transferred over to Rock Band 2 has yet to be solidified seeing that licensing deals are still pending and we're told Harmonix has to re-license each track. Hence the $5'ish price tag. Another Harmonix source mentioned that the number of Rock Band tracks not making the Rock Band 2 transfer should be quite minimal, possibly around the two to three'ish number of tracks. Not bad, seeing that we were thinking much more. Now that we think of it, Harmonix needs to re-license the tracks and if two tracks don't make it, we have a feeling Aerosmith and Metallica may be holding out. They're friends with other rockin peeps.

Aerosmith can suck my left one. Metallica's got dibs on the right.

Is the song transferal an all-or-nothing deal? Because I've been stuck playing Green Grass and High Tides enough for one lifetime. If I can't keep some songs out of the playlists I'd rather not bring over any.

I hear ya. Hopefully there will be a "band this song from random selection" feature and we never have to see it again

I hope it is the Aerosmith and Metallica tracks as those are two of my personal least favorite songs on the disc. The Rolling Stones song could go too. :)
I love the Metallica DLC because it is pre-douche-bag era. But it will get to go since it is DLC!!!

Ouch, man. That Rolling Stones track is amazing lol

Don't get me wrong, I love the Stones, and that song has grown on me but there are some really great songs out there that I would have much rather had from them.

There's going to be another song by Metallica in RB2, so I don't foresee any issues relicensing "Enter Sandman."
"Train Kept A-Rollin'" is a whole different story though. But it is a cover of Aerosmith's cover, so they may be able to work around the whole "Guitar Hero exclusive" stuff somehow.

Any idea how this is going to work? Like how do we get the songs? Can we sell the disc after we get the songs or do we need to keep the disc?
emirabal @ Jul 16th 2008 10:53AM
I can deal with one or two tracks missing, but 3, thats where i draw the line.
