Jade Empire joins Xbox 'O' team
Team Originals is about to get another member added to the roster, according to the Gamescore Blog. On July 21, Jade Empire will be added to Xbox Originals -- the downloadable portal for Xbox titles on the Live Marketplace. BioWare's role-player adventure of martial arts and mystical powers will run gamers the standard 1200MS points. The version made available is the standard edition of the game as the limited edition has had issues with Xbox backwards compatibility in the past. Oh, and before you ask, yes there are dialog trees in the game. We are talking about a BioWare game, remember? Sorry, no blue aliens.

Was this any good? I never played it.
dark_inchworm @ Jul 17th 2008 12:23PM
Well, I'd probably try to pick it up for less than $15, but all things considered it was quite fun if you like beating things up.

It's probably my favorite Xbox game outside of Ninja Gaiden and Stranger's Wrath. I really enjoyed the game, it's a nice self-contained story with really rich mythology as it's backdrop and inspiration.
It's totally worth it for Henpecked Hou alone, a truly funny character. Really beautiful music and artistic direction, the lighting is gorgeous... And I swear I played the ending multiple times just to read the epilogue and listen to the main theme (as well as a hilarious dialog from Hou!)
It's definitely not the best game, especially from Bioware, from a technical standpoint. But it's a very satisfying game, with a well woven story that really makes the most out of the 20-30 hours you'll play it.
You can get the Xbox version for pretty cheap though, brand new even. Amazon currently has the PC "Special Edition" for $7.29 USD too, can't go wrong for that price.

Probably still my favourite BioWare game, although it's hard to call. All of their games left me emotionally devastated at the sudden void in my life upon completion :P
But if you remotely liked KotOR or Mass Effect, then yes, it's more fantastic stuff.

Oh hellz yeah!!!!! I've been waiting for this one. I had the disk and there was a few issues on the BC playback on 360. Now that it's going to be on my hard drive I can finally enjoy this title as I didn't get to finish it the first time around. Awesome. Everyday 360 never seizes to amaze me!!!

Been waiting for this one. Will join burnout as my other xbox download. Need that damn harddrive. Gonna check when that price drop happens on the 120gb.

Incredible game. Anyone who loves a good bioware game and hasn't tried this one yet really should give it a shot. I just wish they had achievements for the originals!

I was playing this game when some one broke in and stole my xbox. So I will definely be picking this one up. I wonder if they will come with the extra special edition characters.
dark_inchworm @ Jul 17th 2008 12:26PM
Um, read the post.
AoE @ Jul 17th 2008 4:16PM
@dark_inchworm,
Um, read comment. He didn't ask if the SE disk would work, he was asking if we got the extra character from the SE disk.
And the answer to that question is actually yes. From the footnotes at the bottom of the backward compatibility list on xbox.com: "The December 2005 update includes the Monk Zeng content from the limited edition of Jade Empire."
dark_inchworm @ Jul 18th 2008 9:24AM
I made my assertion based on Microsoft's tendency to include no additional content whatsoever in their XBO releases. I know he didn't ask if the disc in particular would work; I don't know how you jumped to that conclusion, goof.
I will bow to your observational prowess, though. On previous looks at that page, I know I've read that footnote before. Never thought anything about it, though, given that I haven't played it since the original Xbox.
The_Punisher @ Jul 17th 2008 10:45AM
Great game. Anyone who asked played it NEEDS to. I actually played it recently, and its aged pretty well, except for the fact that your character doesn't talk. You "select" dialog, which is fine with me considering how good the game is.
The_Punisher @ Jul 17th 2008 10:45AM
*hasn't, not asked
Vcize @ Jul 17th 2008 1:55PM
Can you stay logged into Live and bring up the dash when in a downloaded xbox original game?
I know you can't when playing an xbox 1 game from the disc, if you can while downloaded that might convince me to buy it on there. Can't be missing out on those Gears invites...
AoE @ Jul 17th 2008 4:21PM
Nah, the downloaded xbox originals function exactly like throwing any backward compatible game in... no advanced features.
B @ Jul 17th 2008 2:28PM
I thought they announced two games at once?
Dirty @ Jul 17th 2008 3:18PM
Very good game, if you liked KOTOR you will like this. The combat is different though. Bioware never dissapoints if you ask me.
