Stock up on coal and keep the train engine warm, because next Wednesday, July 30th Xbox Live Arcade board game
Ticket to Ride will be hauling in a new expansion. The upcoming
European expansion board DLC will give players a new board to choo-choo on and add new game elements to the mix including ferries, tunnels and train stations. All that excitement and more for (deep breath) only 600 Microsoft points. Yowzaz! We never knew that getting a European ticket to ride the rails would be so darn expensive. Darn the economy!

A 600 point expansion for a 800 point game? I'm very dissapointed.
spamsphen @ Jul 23rd 2008 4:55PM
i absolutely LOVE this game, its very fun and addictive, but honestly i think the the expansions taht r to tome should have been included, once the other comes it its gonna like $25 game. thats a bit much an arcade game. i have how developers do tahta. they probably all ready have all the expansions made but just release them later knowing people will buy the, gay..............
Dadidito @ Jul 23rd 2008 4:56PM
Been waiting for this but 600 pts for an extra play board considering they still have one more to go.... no think so.
Stupendous52 @ Jul 23rd 2008 4:56PM
Bittersweet... this is a lot more expensive than I hoped it might be... but if I want all the cheevos I better throw down!
AoE @ Jul 23rd 2008 6:53PM
Oh I hear you! I especially like Cheevos Flamin' Hot and Cheevos Puffs. Hey that reminds me, have you tried the Cheevos Puffs White Cheedar yet? Are they any good?
Knight Marquise @ Jul 23rd 2008 7:26PM
AoE...
Yes, those white chedder puffs are great!
I wish this game wasn't so addicting, because I'd pass on the dlc...but.......
Madwacker @ Jul 23rd 2008 5:21PM
I really hope they fixed the ability to distinguish RED and ORANGE and BLACK and GRAY train tiles on the board. I can't tell the difference at all. I wrote them about it too.
Wilson @ Jul 23rd 2008 5:30PM
:S this is quite more expensive than what I had expected... I'm not sure I'll buy it.
Jonman @ Jul 23rd 2008 5:40PM
Bit on the pricey side, isn't it? I'm not sure whether I'll drop the points on this or not.
Shame, because i like the game.
Kabapu @ Jul 23rd 2008 6:12PM
... I played this version at my friend's (the actual board game). After three games, I found (by observing my friend's victories) there's a single strategy that will win every time (depending on who gets the right cards first).
Quit playing after that. My other friend found the same strategy and proceeded to beat the owner of the game seven times in a row.
I'll pass.
Jason @ Jul 23rd 2008 7:52PM
What strategy is that?
Kabapu @ Jul 24th 2008 1:27AM
There's a road along the top (8 tiles) and a road along the bottom (forget how long), but basically, if you can build those rails, before the other player does, you've won the game.
They're essentially worth more than the routes you're given to complete. In one particular game, I completed my two major routes and four or five minor ones. My opponent only finished one of his major routes and (at most) two minor routes, but won because of those two lines I mentioned.
So every game after that basically came down to a race to see who could get those two lines first.
Jonah Falcon @ Jul 24th 2008 2:28PM
hahahaha You're playing against NOOBS.
Any veteran Ticket to Ride player will smoke you almost instantly. Do you honestly think you've come upon an exploit no one's noticed on the board game or online PC game in the last couple of YEARS?!
Jonah Falcon @ Jul 24th 2008 2:31PM
By the way, how will that strategy work on the Euro-board?
Noob. Play against BoardGameGeek.com gamers and try that strategy. Hope you enjoy LOSING.
Probably don't even buy new routes during the game, either.

It does seem expensive compared to other XBLA games, but it is a bargain compared to purchasing the hard copy. I'm kinda frustrated with their decision as well, but in perspective it looks reasonable.
Drachen77 @ Jul 24th 2008 4:13AM
I am pretty disappointed at the price but as was said above, it is much cheaper than buying the real version. So in the end it is really a bargain.
I am sure I will break down and get it.
Seanross @ Jul 24th 2008 4:42AM
darn so altogether it's going to be about 2000 MS Points if the 2nd DLC is 600 points too :(
Dracula Jones @ Jul 24th 2008 12:57PM
I agree. I bought the base game and enjoy it, but this is just too expensive. 400msp would be about right.
Master Bruce @ Jul 24th 2008 2:08PM
What's that, like $10? Considering I pay more to see a movie that I will enjoy for less time, I have a hard time complaining about 600 MS points.
Jonah Falcon @ Jul 24th 2008 2:29PM
No, $7.50
TTR + expansion on XBLA: $17.50
TTR alone board game: $29.99 - $34.99
Tom @ Sep 19th 2008 10:13AM
The 1910 expansion is out, and makes some interesting modifications to the core game. Best of all it's only 400 pts so that should silence some of the whiners.
