Although their plans have changed a bit, team Bungie is steadfast at making their
Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) presence known with the unveiling of
new Halo 3 multiplayer content. In a recent update posted on Bungie.net, Sketch mentions that PAX attendees can "expect to find some brand new
Halo 3 multiplayer conent [
sic]" even though the content or anything else at PAX for that matter is "not going to be the 'big announcement' many of our fans are clamoring for." A new multiplayer map perhaps? We think that would be a good bet.
So, between the Bungie meeting, swag winning, autograph signing and Recon earning that'll be going down at PAX this year, we'll also get a chance to preview some new
Halo 3 content. But sadly, the
E3 delayed BIG announcement will not be unveiled at PAX and the Bungie planned FanFest will not take place either. Somewhat exciting, somewhat sad.

A little bit of news from Bungie is better than no news at all, right?
Dustin Burg @ Jul 24th 2008 8:18PM
I guess ... :(
Sharp @ Jul 24th 2008 8:29PM
Really? New maps! WOW! I would of never thought Bungie would be doing the most mediocre thing they possibily could!
Why not do something new for the failure of a campaign the game has? It's always MP focus because we need to have 10000000000000000 maps to play over and over again(for a small fee of course). The least amount of work & creativity for big $$$$ that is the Bungie way.
Intentless @ Jul 24th 2008 8:32PM
In seeing your comments I am led to believe that the game you yourself has made is the greatest game ever made... Can you please let me know what it is because I would love to play the game made by one that knows the process so well and is so talented that he feels it to be such an easy process.... Please do enlighten me...
West @ Jul 24th 2008 8:52PM
10000000000000000 maps? That's a lot of maps.
Tyr1n @ Jul 24th 2008 9:18PM
yeah, no work what so ever.
making the map
play testing the map
making the map look good
looking for glitches
balancing the map.
releasing one of those maps in a three pack? i'd say thats enough man hours worth of work to pay for.
Hooligunn @ Jul 24th 2008 9:25PM
I bet you LOVE CoD4. Go on admit it.
It's funny that Halo 3 has overtaken CoD4 as king of live once again. It's highly supported with monthly playlist changes, regular spurts of new maps and a company that cares about it.
Personally, I think if CoD4 never had Prestige it would have been forgotten long ago. I find it so mediocre and easy that I can't bear the game anymore - and this is coming from a MASSIVE CoD fan (bar CoD4 which i hate).
007craft @ Jul 24th 2008 11:24PM
i dont agree with the OP, but I dont agree with downloadable maps either. I mean, there great in theory, but everytime I see one, I just hang my head in dissapointment on how it works with pc versions, in which you never pay for maps, and map editors are givin to the community for free. I mean I love playing new maps, especially user maps, I just wish people like microsoft designed their system more in check to support custom content then their pay for our content model.
Take doom XBLA for example. I just bought it, to relive my fav doom memories. and it was great. But that game would be so much better if we could make and play custom levels like we can with the pc version.
While im sure its lots of work to build and perfect these maps, and employees need to be paid, there are hundreds of people out there willing to do that sorta stuff for FREE, just because we love the game, or like doing it. But we are not givin the tools, so our only option for new content is to pay for it by the people who do have the tools to make it, but dont want to do so for free.

Hey look is Gaylo 3 everybody. Hooray!!!
There are 4 Halo games in development right now. FOUR!!!
There is no such thing as creativity or new nothing when it comes to M$.
Deezul @ Jul 24th 2008 10:43PM
Oh look Call of Duty is in WORLD WAR II. Awesome. I haven't heard of a WWII shooter in like a day! I'm going out on a limb here. But guess what's coming in November 2009 - Call of Duty 6! By Infinity Ward. It'll be different though, because, it's in space. And you'll wear a space suit that will be surprisingly nimble. And it will be green. But that's not a Halo clone, because we'll have PERKS!
Xav de Matos @ Jul 25th 2008 2:22AM
How ironic that someone complaining about CREATIVITY used the terms "Gaylo" and "M$."
That's called irony.
You sir are an idiot!
Momer @ Jul 24th 2008 9:53PM
I don't want to start another flame spree, but yeah, a new map really isn't that exciting. I'm not saying it's easy to and required no work, I'm well aware of the long processes (not including the fact that they're working hard on other projects right now) but that's all they've done so far and it hasn't really changed the experience itself. But remember, they said NEW CONTENT, don't all go and assume that it's another multiplayer map (although it probably is :( ).
Dwag @ Jul 24th 2008 10:42PM
Cool hopefully we can get more customization options for our characters and more maps.
Doug @ Jul 24th 2008 11:00PM
Halo 3 is like Canadian bacon. Mmm. Want more. But I often feel like Dracula at a baptism when saying I love Halo 3. What's not to love? Legendary rocks. Multiplayer rocks. For sure, more than CoD4 which is just straightforward game play. As much as the excellent Bioshock. More than the beautiful, but often goofy Metal Gear Solid. Gears of War was written by drunk frat boys (although I have my hopes high for 2). As much as the super-fun Portal. As much as the great Orange Box/Half Life 2. If you're lucky, you get a handful of games a year as buffed as Halo 3. Master Chief is the patron saint of shooters.
padthelad @ Jul 25th 2008 12:25AM
Amen
n0thx1ng @ Jul 25th 2008 12:27AM
How about some new weapons or at least armor variants? I love getting new maps, but new weapons would be awesome.
mas @ Jul 25th 2008 12:32AM
if you think halo is orginal your stupid aliens endanger the universe thats so not original. It was perfected by doom and metroid prime so Deezul shut up. If you had a brain you would know microsft is just milking halo for all its worth. there was never suposed to be a halo3 bungie wonted to end it the series at halo2 but microsoft said no. the only reason halo3 is beating cod4 on live is because people thought bungie would put some kind of in game code thats the only reason.
Xav de Matos @ Jul 25th 2008 2:25AM
You know Metroid Prime came out after Halo, right?
It's called research.
Use it. Live it. Love it.
Brandon @ Jul 25th 2008 3:11AM
You, sir, have no idea what you're talking about. None of your statements can be backed up by fact and most of them are just plain wrong.
Actually, it was Halo that perfected the alien invasions, considering that it has sold more copies than Metroid and Doom combined.
Halo was always planned to be a trilogy, and there is no way that the storyline was intended to end after only 2 games.
And people play Halo 3 because it's fun, and it's a good game. COD4 will die soon.
zlliM @ Jul 25th 2008 1:03AM
I bet it will be new maps AND something new related to the game play. like new weapons/vehicles or new game mode. I am pretty confident that its just not new maps, but that would be okay.
Chase @ Jul 25th 2008 5:06AM
Halo 3 is an average game. Now, there's nothing wrong with average, but it does not deserves the praise it gets. It plays like a late-1990s shooter (see: Quake). Sure, it's prettier. It does indeed get bonus points for being pretty. However, the story is mediocre and characters are as forgettable as one's name after one too many glasses of scotch. Again, there's nothing wrong with average; and that's just what Halo 3 is: average.
n00bles @ Jul 25th 2008 6:51AM
Not getting on at you here, but what would you class as an above average game?
Because I strongly disagree with your halo thoughts, but to each their own eh.
Maverick Saturn @ Jul 25th 2008 7:11AM
Was average on my fun metre as well, but then again few games have appealed to me this gen like they did last gen, I just feel as though creativity isn't around like it used to be in PS1, N64 and Sega days. We just steal ideas from other things, regurgitate the same games and do the same old things over and over :(
Shmil @ Jul 25th 2008 11:16AM
whoa whoa whoa, you just compared the story mode in the halo games to a mainly multiplayer game, Quake how stupid is that?
to you its average to me its great, not the greatest one of the best games i've ever played.
Maverick Saturn @ Jul 25th 2008 7:09AM
And shorty got 'halo, halo, halo, halo'
BFBeast666 @ Jul 25th 2008 8:43AM
Instead of reporting on any fart Bungie releases you could for instance ask Criterion what's up with the Cagney update. Still a no-show.
Tann @ Jul 25th 2008 9:00AM
when is PAX?
Tann @ Jul 25th 2008 9:01AM
i think halo's the greatest fps ever.
thats just my own opinion though.
animeman_59 @ Jul 25th 2008 9:32AM
Halo 3 is great and Call of Duty 4 is great.
Stop being such fanboys.
Geez, why don't you take that fanboy fervor and apply it to something meaningful, like religion or politics?
On second though, don't. We would have WW3 and Ultra Jihad on our hands with fanboy idiots runniing the show. Keep your attention on games where it won't hurt anybody.
Carbonize @ Jul 25th 2008 9:48AM
I love the Halo series and used to play Halo 2 Live as often as I could. I have even read the books. But, in my opinion, the single player campaign in Halo 3 is a major let down. Just feels rushed and unbalanced. Feels a lot like they knew they had to tie things off and had an idea for the next game featuring Master Chief and Cortana so had to come up with a story that killed off all current chaarcters and leaves MC in position for the next game.
I still play Halo 3 Live occasionally but last time I was on it I gave up after waiting twenty minutes for it to find enough players to start a game.
e.Missark @ Jul 25th 2008 10:01AM
"i think halo's the greatest fps ever. Thats just my own opinion though."
You have been playing your 360 for far to long. It has clouded your memory and your taste in games.
Brian @ Jul 25th 2008 10:26AM
Noooooo!
PAX is ages away
pekosROB @ Jul 25th 2008 10:56AM
I just wanted to say people abuse these comments. On that note I'd like to say I love playing Halo, don't mind paying for maps, and last but not least, I am VERY impressed with how Bungie can keep secrets from hitting the internet wires!! Seriously, when Bungie has an announcement, it almost seems like everyone waits for it rather than looking for a leaked source... kudos to Bungie.
ZombiesRPplsToo @ Jul 25th 2008 4:36PM
how about something new instead of maps?
i enjoy them but atleast some new FX or armor or gametype or something
fingers crossed
