Video: symbiote Wolverine in Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
We knew that Wolverine would make an appearance in Spider-Man: Web of Shadows since Activision released potential box art for the game. What we didn't know, is that Wolvy will be infected by the infamous symbiote at some point in the game, creating a clawed, Venom-like monster. Joystiq blogger (and feeble podcast producer) Justin McElroy notes that this already happened once in the comics, at which point the alien goo was immediately ejected by Woverine's mutant healing factor. We have some possibilities then. One, this is a special new breed of symbiote. Two, the developers at Shaba want an awesome Woverine monster and don't care about continuity.
Whatever the answer is, we suggest you watch the (awesome) trailer after the break, in which Wolverine shows up near the end. Be sure to watch the whole video for a look at some great looking combat too.

I actually think the author of this article makes some false assumptions... for example that it's wolverine in a symbiote. I rather think that the creatures invading imitates different super-heroes/villians. There are spider-man look-a-likes, vulture look-a-like and apparently wolverine look-a-likes.

Well that's certainly possible. However, I think that the way they revealed it hints that it is actually wolverine under there. I'm not discounting your point though. You may very well be right and there will be a bunch of wolverine clones running around to fight. It would probably make for a more interesting story if Black Spidey has to go up against Black Wolverine though.

Sorry to geek all out but wouldn't Wolverine's healing power protect him from a virus invading his body and turning him into a symbiote?
anon @ Jul 28th 2008 10:59PM
Actually, in the new Venom series, Venom takes over Wolverine with no problems whatsoever. The only reason it doesn't last is because Wolverine has a bomb implanted in his chest; when it detonated, the symbiote was thrown off.

Be warned - MUA2 is based on the Godawful "Civil War" crossover.

Wow. I was on the fence about this game before because I hadn't seen much of it before, but now I'm definitely going to get it!!! (As long as all the reviews don't say it sucks.)
As for the Wolverine symbiote debate, I'm cool either way. If it's Wolverine infected, that means you get one insanely awesome boss fight with that, but if it's a bunch of copiers, then you get to fight with lots of them. Either way is cool.
