Confusion surrounds $130 GoW2 Lancer bundle [update]

This weekend, news trickled out of Comic-Con where Cliff and the Gears of War 2 panel enthusiastically "announced" a third Gears of War 2 retail edition that would include a Lancer replica priced at $130. Well, now we hear that this may not be the case and could be just a big ball of confusion. Let us explain.
During the panel, we're hearing (from sources including Gearheads of War) that Cliff Bleszinski was excitedly talking about all kinds of upcoming GoW2 products, mentioning the Gears 2 Collector's Edition and a Lancer for $130. Now, taken as one sentence, it would seem that Cliff announced a new edition bundled with a Lancer for the price of $130, but that's where the confusion over Cliff's words may have started (likely, seeing that this isn't the first time we have misinterpreted his words). What he could have been referring to (separately) was the GoW2 Collector's Edition AND the newly announced NECA manufactured full size replica Lancer (pictured above thanks to Gearheads of War) that'll be exclusive to exclusive Amazon.com. A product that, you guessed it, should retail for about $130. (Sidenote: This newer replica is VERY sexy and a much better deal than that other way too expensive replica.)
So, was this all a simple misunderstanding? Were Cliff's word's misinterpreted? Did he only mean to introduce the Amazon.com exclusive Lancer replica and not an actual $130 GoW2 Lancer game bundle? Microsoft has been contacted, we're patiently awaiting clarification.

Yeah that sounds like the most likely scenario.
Still, that Lancer looks alright for $130. What's that, about 70 quid? I'd have no problem paying that if I was into collecting these things.
A little bit cheaper than the other one anyway!

Yeah that seems fair. If this doesn't come to the Uk then it's import time. Wouldn't even be close to the first time I've had to do that.

Title of this post should be "$130 to add to your nerd collection." For $130, you better be able to saw people in half with that thing. Or it better shoot nerf bullets or something.
Of course you could put this $130 thing on your wall and never get laid again.

Yeah. I love gaming and I especially love Gears, but I just can't bring myself to start putting this sort of junk in my living space. Maybe if I was 22 and single.

That's why I'm 28, married, and have a separate game room!
U guys do know there are some chicks that dig games right? My wife kicks ass at Halo, Fight Night, and loves other games too. Granted her being Japanese could have a lil to do with her being more open to it. But dont not buy something, cause chicks might not dig it! Be yourself!

DAMN U DOUBLE POST!!!

Yeah well I'm 26 and engaged to be married and will be getting this because I like it. I think the only people who make comments like this are idiots who are more concerned about their own sexual inadequacies. If you don't like gaming then go elsewhere!!!!

You're right, MDJ2010. I should waste $130 on this model and it will make me a sexual dynamo like you. I'm sure "wanna come see my Gears of War Lancer replica?" is a huge pickup line with the ladies. Girls love it when guys spend large amounts of money on toy guns. It screams responsibility and maturity.
I think comments like yours show more inadequacy than anything. For one, you're making sweeping, baseless generalizations (like anyone who comments like me is sexually inadequate), and also drawing conclusions that have no basis whatsoever (like I don't like gaming). Clearly you're projecting your own inadequacies on me and also trying to back it up by citing your engagement.

SugarDaddy, some people don't need cool shit hanging on their walls to get women. And some, believe or not, can get them in spite of whether or not they have a toy gun.
The way you're describing it, it's like buying this gun tatoos the words "do not screw this guy" on your forehead in bright pink letters.
And Chester, my wife would work your wife at Gears ;). Although admittedly, she's like the worst Halo player ever.
Deezul @ Jul 29th 2008 10:19AM
It'll look nice between a pair of Master Chief helmets I have mounted on the wall.
Chester @ Jul 29th 2008 10:53AM
I would much rather have a separate $130 Lancer. I think the Lancer in a game bundle would be extremely small.
That Lancer would look killer on one side of my projection screen, with Master Chief helmet on the other side!
Like a nerd orgy! LOL!
Etchasketchist @ Jul 29th 2008 12:55PM
Just once I'd like to see someone in Gears of War 2 use that thing to chop down an actual tree.
Cobese23 @ Jul 29th 2008 10:09PM
Can someone please make this into a sweet-ass Guitar Hero guitar? I think it would be cool to have the frets on the grip on the front, and the strum bar buy the pistol grip. Does anyone else think this would be a badass idea?
