Microsoft: No Gears of War 2 Lancer bundle from us

"We have officially announced a Standard Edition ($59.99 USD) and Limited Edition ($69.99) for 'Gears of War 2', which will both be available on November 7th, 2008 worldwide. Retailers often create their own bundles to appeal to specific customers. The 'Lancer' bundle referenced at San Diego Comic-Con is not a package being offered by Microsoft Game Studios."
So, there you have it. Microsoft is not creating a third $130 GoW2 Lancer bundle SKU and Cliff (more than likely) was just talking about the Lancer replica being created exclusively through Amazon.com. Though, the door is still open to the possibility that Amazon.com may create a Gears of War 2 Lancer replica bundle itself, but we haven't heard any official info from them. You can now sleep soundly tonight and save your $130.

Because their Halo 3 helmet bundle sold so well at $130... (now available in droves at your local Circuit City for $69)
Hatredkopter @ Jul 29th 2008 12:15PM
HaHa 69......
Yeah my helmet is hiding in my closet and thats exactly where this lancer is gonna be, safe from the "non-gamer" friends.

Actually $130 is cheap for a bundle: Nintendo is selling this really cool motion controlled sports game, but you have to buy their limited quantity / hard-to-find "Nintendo Wii" bundle for $249 to get it. Bet that will be worth something someday.
AxCHEDDAxA @ Aug 25th 2008 1:23PM
LoL 69 what a number.
Hatredkopter @ Jul 29th 2008 12:14PM
I kinda figured this. That replica lancer looks way too sick to come bundled at $130 with a game at least $60.
Brian @ Jul 29th 2008 12:16PM
Does the Limited Edition one have what is pictured up there? ^^^
Dustin Burg @ Jul 29th 2008 12:19PM
yup yup
Hatredkopter @ Jul 29th 2008 12:20PM
Yes sir and for only 10 bucks more that is a steal and a no brainer.
Deezul @ Jul 29th 2008 1:14PM
I passed on the original GoW limited edition. Most of the time I'm going to pay the extra $10, or in GTA IV's and Halo 3, the extra $30 and $70. GTA IV I probably could have done without, but I ma very happy with the LE editon of Halo 3. Master Chief Helmet hasn't been topped yet as a bonus.
Tony @ Jul 29th 2008 12:17PM
The helmet would have been cool if it were truly limited. They made it sound like they'd be a rarity, yet it seemed like every single week stores were getting more and more of them in.
Dragod @ Jul 29th 2008 12:28PM
I hope the Bundle includes the Limited Edition, and not the Standard edition... But that probably won't happen.
Amazon should either offer two Bundles, or allow you to Upgrade when you buy the non bundled versions. ($130 for normal + Lancer, $140 for Limited + Lancer).

From Joystiq:
* Amazon is the exclusive U.S. retailer of the GoW collector's lancer.
* Amazon will offer the lancer as a bundle with GoW 2.
* Pricing for the bundle is not yet confirmed.
* A detail page for the product bundle will go live on the site this week and if pricing is still to be confirmed at that time, customers can sign up to get an email notification for when the product is available for pre-order.
so they (amazon) ARE offering a bundle, but no word on pricing. I usually steer clear of these sorts of things, but if it does come in at 130 for the BUNDLE, I might have to bite - that thing just looks too frickin' badass.
SweetTea023 @ Jul 29th 2008 3:45PM
As was reported on GearHeads and in the comments here no X360Fanboy 2 days ago...=)
MDJ2010 @ Jul 29th 2008 4:02PM
The main selling point for the Minited Edition is the code to unlock the multiplayer Gold Lancer, I literally have to get it to avoid being burned online for 'only' having the nomral Lancer.
MDJ2010 @ Jul 29th 2008 4:03PM
Limited, not minited, that's not even a word!
zach @ Jul 30th 2008 12:12AM
umm im pretty sure cliff bleszinski said something at comic con about a $130 bundle on amazon that includes the game and the lancer.
Tucker @ Jul 30th 2008 10:57AM
Someone hasn't been paying much attention to this saga...
Timerider @ Jul 30th 2008 11:15AM
Now I need to go put down my $5 for Limited edition at Gamestop. If Amazon does make an awesome (and affordable) Lancer bundle, I'll have to get that.
Does the Lancer have the blue lights on the side like in the game?
Timerider @ Jul 30th 2008 11:18AM
This might be a double post.
