Rumor time: Target already selling 60GB Xbox 360s
A Joystiq tipster by the name of Vincent recently took this snapshot at his local Target store. Keen observers will note that the Xbox 360 box reads "Now with a 60GB Hard Drive." But wait, those aren't supposed to go on sale until August! We call shenanigans, good shenanigans for anyone looking to snag one of these beefy new 360s early. Joystiq notes that another sighting has been made at Penny College as well. And now we turn it over to you, the X3F Army. If you've seen the new 360 Pro system at your own Target (or anywhere else for that matter) let us know in the comments.

They gave you a 10gig unit? Wow. that sucks
ryan @ Jul 29th 2008 1:34PM
it's 10 gig even tho it says 20. 10 gigs are already used when you get the 20 gig.
i have an elite 120 gig, but only 111 was available from the get go.

10 gb's are not used out of the box. It's a 20 gb hard drive douche. Where else should they put the system software? Wait how about in your @ss.
kevin @ Jul 29th 2008 11:58AM

Target has controls in place in their POS system to prevent early purchases of product like this. I don't know if they have it in place for this sku, but it's likely. So, even if you got it to the cash register, you might not be able to actually buy it.
mattclarkie @ Jul 29th 2008 1:29PM
Well they were selling them until you posted that they were selling them. Just like the Halo3 streetdate was broken until everyone filled the internet with posts about that.

This better not be a double post. Fix your posting system please.

i really don't understand why a 60 gig could've been available from the start. why do microsoft's harddrives have to cost so damn much?
Michael May @ Jul 29th 2008 1:36PM

Someone buy one then rip it open and see if it has the new "Jasper" chipset. I'm considering selling mine and buying one of these if it has the cooler chipset.
John @ Jul 30th 2008 1:11AM
you dont have to open it up to check if its a Jasper just check the watts i think the older models use 275w if i remember right so since the jasper requires less power it should be less watts also it make since cause jasper was said to come out in august and officially the 60GB comes out Aug 1 so why would microsoft use a out dated motherboard when on somthing thats coming out a couple of days before the new one is suppose to hit the streets
nnarum23 @ Jul 30th 2008 11:00AM
Actually the Falcons that are currently out use 175w... So based on your theory, it should or could be less than 175w with the new chipset... n00b.
Grant @ Jul 29th 2008 2:51PM
if these are retailing at $299 for whatever reason, i'd pick one up just to ebay it.
dorkimusprime @ Jul 29th 2008 4:11PM
was at my local target in upstate new york on saturday and saw them on sale there....no price though...there was a row of elites, a row of 20 gig pros, and a row of 60 giggers and no arcades. who the hell would be stupid enough to buy an arcade???
Steve Gano @ Jul 29th 2008 5:18PM
Got word in an email at my GameStop (employer) that GameStop stores will receive some by Friday.
Alaska Nebraska @ Jul 29th 2008 5:44PM
I swear that photo is from MY Target store because I saw that 60GB sitting in that very spot, right next to an arcade.
xnifex @ Jul 29th 2008 6:58PM
I want to know what motherboard it has as well as what drive.
Levon @ Jul 29th 2008 11:57PM
I work at Target in San Diego and we've been sold out of 20gb's since the $299 price drop, I'll keep checking though to see if any 60gb's pop up...
Philip @ Jul 30th 2008 10:00AM

Just picked mine up yesterday at a Target in Boise. Total cost...$317.00. Must be some serious glitch in their inventory system
