Apparently not wanting
Target to steal all the limelight, it looks like Wal-Mart is now selling the
60GB Xbox 360 Pro console ahead of its August launch. The info comes from X3F tipster Gerald, who snapped the above image -- note the 60GB portion of the box we've enlarged at lower right -- at his local Wal-Mart in Roanoke, Virginia, where he says there are currently four 60GB consoles in stock. Looks like would-be early adopters have a new place to look. If you've seen the 60GB console in your local Wal-Mart (or anywhere else) let us know in the comments.
[Thanks, Gerald!]

No one is really selling it early. Microsoft only announced an anticipated window of early August. The console is not street dated so any retailer can sell them as soon as they come in.

Aside from the early-selling/street-date-breaking of the 60GB model, based on the picture above, are they also selling the new unit at the $299.99 that the 20GB models are going for (after the price drop/fire sale)?
Gerald @ Jul 30th 2008 6:29PM
Yes, it was at 299...

I just picked up a 60 gig from Gamestop in Glen Allen VA. Welcome surprise after my original 20 gig model crapped out for the 5th time....3rd time in a row. Figured I'd buy a new one and found the 60 gig unit in store.

Can you check the power supply for us all?! I am really curious to see if it is the Jasper chipset!!
Scott @ Jul 30th 2008 7:18PM
My question is, when is someone going to crack one of these open to see if they have the new Jasper chipset?
Andy @ Jul 30th 2008 7:37PM
Just check the power supply. Is it less than 175w? Is it significantly smaller or lighter?
Will @ Jul 30th 2008 8:09PM
Hey how much do you guys think MS is going to charge for the 60GB harddrive separately? I'm thinking probably too much, since they are still ripping people off with the 20GB harddrive...
tekman94 @ Jul 31st 2008 8:37AM
From what i read, which is purely rumor/speculation, it is going to be around $100 and include the HDD, a headset, and 3 months of LIVE GOLD.
Maverick Saturn @ Jul 30th 2008 8:22PM
Thats not too shabby, not too shabby at all
decoyoctopus @ Jul 30th 2008 9:01PM
It's not really selling early since when I put the 60GB on the shelves today at the Wal-Mart I work at it's not coming up as "Sell not allowed" like the MGS4 PS3 Bundles were so I'm guess there is no street date on these units at all

Found this video awhile ago. It's probably a falcon.
AshTR @ Jul 30th 2008 9:14PM
Called the one near me. They have em but they're selling em for $350.
pekosROB @ Jul 30th 2008 9:36PM
I'm pretty sure I saw some available now and not for pre-order from gamestop.com
Arsonism @ Jul 30th 2008 9:37PM
At Sams Club, the system says that it will be $348.xx. I don't know if that will be a bundle with an extra controller and a play and charge kit, like all the other 360s or just the Microsoft SKU by its self.
Dan T @ Jul 30th 2008 10:38PM
i confirm, gamestop will start selling these as soon as they get them (2maro)
=)
JRsmallz @ Jul 30th 2008 10:54PM
I checked out my local Target store in Centerville, Utah and they've got the 60gb 360's at the $299.99 price. I took pictures.
CSuchanek @ Jul 31st 2008 7:18AM
I tried at my local Target. However, it rang up at 349.99 even though the shelf tag still said 299.99. I decided to hold off until my next 10% off coupon.
JRsmallz @ Jul 31st 2008 10:32AM
LOL--that's lazy target for ya!. I remember back in like February of this year they had a spot on the shelves for Dark Sector and an "ON SALE AS ADVERTISED" sign for it as well. I asked the guy in electronics if they had it in and he said it was to release that week and I said, no, try March 25th buck-o! And of course, the game didn't release that week.

The hardware is still defective. You'll be returning it within 3 months.
ace2234 @ Jul 31st 2008 2:42AM
gamestop is now selling them
