Major Xbox 360 price cuts rumored for September

Gather round children and scoot in close, because it's time for another edition of Xbox 360 price cut rumor talk where we inform you about the latest, craziest and somewhat possible 360 price cuts that may or may not happen. And today, friends, we aren't about to let you down.According to ars technica's Microsoft insider, all Xbox 360 hardware across all console SKUs will be seeing some major price cuts even including the recently introduced 60GB model. Their insider informs us that sometime this September, the Xbox 360 Arcade (no HDD) will drop from $279 all the way down to $199, the new Xbox 360 Pro (60GB HDD) will go from $349 down to $299 and the Xbox 360 Elite (120GB HDD) will fall from $449 down to a more reasonable $399. If true, high fives all around. If false, we become depressed.

Europe already got a drop a few months back, before gta4.
If we get another one (possible since they're targetting europe) then it's just ridiculously cheap.

the wii360 crowd is getting shit on by nintendo, cause most of us don't want the dumbed down family fun time crap they are slinging. They claim they are not forgetting their hardcore audience.... but i know better and can see through their lies.

Somehow i doubt this. Because of the recent price drop here at least. Microsoft is not known for its price dropping.

A $199 360 would be nice, just get a $5 HDMI cable and a $45 20gb Hard drive off ebay, and it price matches a Wii.

Did you actually scan the item or just look at the shelf tag? I tried and the price in the system is $349.99. It is a bit YMMV if you can get a Manager to honor the posted price.

I seriously doubt this is happening this soon. If it was, Microsoft would've made a much bigger deal out of this during E3 instead of announcing the price cut on the 20GB down to $299. They wouldn't drop it, then make a 60GB at the same price so soon afterwards. I call this rumor bogus.

Microsoft would never announce such a price cut back at E3 because first they wanted to get rid of the 20GB model...hence they first announced the "fake price cut" and now that the 20GB is fading away the will announce the REAL price cut...

my local best buy already have the prices in effect except the arcade ver its still $279 . You can get a used/refurbished pro (20gb hdd) for 150-175 thru the net like i did and get a square trade warranty on it realy cheap and it covers everything . Good so far , no problems .

And of course, right after I pick up (last week) a $299 20 GB 360, the rumor is a new 60 GB 360 will be selling for $299 in Sept.

I think I seen the hype. I went to the mall today and at a GameStop they had priced the Arcade for $199, I believe it was still the 20GB sku (not sure) though for $299 and the elite sku for $399. This was at a mall in Northridge, CA. I think that store was believing the hype too because at other stores like Best Buy and Circuit City nearby they still had regular prices on the Arcade and Elite versions....
