Jeff Foxworthy fanboys (if there are any) listen up! THQ just
announced that Mr. Foxworthy's trivia gameshow
Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? (
AYSTA5G? for short) will be makings its way to the XBLA. Creepy game graphics aside (seriously, Cameron looks like one of the
Children of the Corn) and on paper,
AYSTA5G? doesn't sound too bad with features including online and local play and over 6,000 question spread across 21 categories. Yeah, the XBLA rendition of
AYSTA5G? looks to be true to the gameshow and how it's played. For good or bad.

You mean.. Howard Stern's "Are You Smarter Than a 5th grader"
PlayaCDubb @ Aug 5th 2008 2:00PM
Gotta love how ALOT of people dont know that. I hope Howard finds out about this
TommyBoy9095 @ Aug 5th 2008 2:04PM
I'm gonna make a call Monday morning to his show... Listen for me!!! Muahahaha
Marrvia @ Aug 6th 2008 5:19PM
Howard Stern knows about it. He has complained on his show almost every month since "Are you smarter than a 5th Grader" started, saying he is going to sue, but he hasn't even tried to sue yet.
ZeroCorpse @ Aug 6th 2008 6:39PM
I used to watch his OLD television show, when he'd do the "Can't Get Into College Bowl" segments. It was like Jeopardy, except the contestants were his show's regulars, and a few random dumb people.
Personally, I'd rather see a video game featuring Howard Stern than fricking JEFF FOXWORTHY. That's one guy I NEVER wanted to see in a video game! Please tell me he doesn't do voice-over work for this... I couldn't deal with the idea of the redneck guy's voice being on my next-gen system.

Hands Down:
This show makes me want to kick a baby.
VPhoenix @ Aug 5th 2008 12:31PM
I think this could actually be a lot of fun but again I have to ask, where oh where is You Don't Know Jack for XBLA?
You're sitting on a goldmine, Sierra.
Ben @ Aug 5th 2008 12:45PM
I would love to play You Don't Know Jack on XBLA. So many fond memories of playing on PS1. It would be even better over Live.
VPhoenix @ Aug 5th 2008 12:50PM
Seriously! With the headsets and trash-talking and everything... plus there'd finally be another use for those Big Button controllers.
Every few weeks they could release more questions as DLC to keep the game fresh. I'd be playing it all the time.
I just read it's rumoured Jellyvision is working on a Wii version, but I hope they bring it to the 360 as well... it seems like such an obvious fit.
koehler83 @ Aug 5th 2008 12:31PM
"Are you smarter than an Xbox360 AI subroutine?"
Mr.U2 @ Aug 5th 2008 3:11PM
That's exactly what I was thinking, lol.
Etchasketchist @ Aug 5th 2008 12:37PM
I am smarter than a 5th grader. I win. Game over. Give me my achievements.
Magic Whiskey @ Aug 5th 2008 12:42PM
I read the "1 Versus 100" Nintendo DS review on IGN.com this week and I just realized..we have a CGI Jeff Foxworthy AND Bob Saget now. (His 'oh-face' pic is priceless, by the way. I have to share.)

Ben @ Aug 5th 2008 12:46PM
I bet that's the face he made when he had to "do certain things" for coke
Mrblonde @ Aug 5th 2008 1:58PM
"I had to suck dick for coke!" "I seen him!"
ROFL that HBO stand-up was sooo raunchy, but way funny
Ben @ Aug 5th 2008 12:46PM
I like how the question mark is included in the acronym
Eddie @ Aug 5th 2008 12:53PM
That comment is smarter than a fifth grader.
Or maybe I just have the sense of humour of one.
Either way- damn funny, Dustin... Damn funny. Now that I've spit Diet Coke all over my keyboard, I'll be on my way.
Eddie @ Aug 5th 2008 1:05PM
And by comment, of course, I mean CAPTION.
Scott @ Aug 5th 2008 12:54PM
Looks like a potentially fun family trivia game as long as they keep coming up with new questions. That was the biggest downer with Scene-It. No new trivia packs greatly shortens the life-span of a trivia game.
Jonah Falcon @ Aug 5th 2008 12:55PM
Sorry - I'm still preferring 1 vs. 100.
Eddie @ Aug 5th 2008 12:56PM
Thirded.
I may not know Jack, but I DO know he belongs on XBLA. I promise screwing your friends will never be funner. Or more literal.
Or, uh... less sensual, depending on the original context...
Deezul @ Aug 5th 2008 12:57PM
Don't be hating on Jeff Foxworthy. He's a Computer Science graduate of Georgia Tech, 1979. Hell of a lot smarter than a 5th grader.
Mrblonde @ Aug 5th 2008 2:01PM
And a hick.
Eddie @ Aug 5th 2008 5:14PM
Ah, yes. I remember his thesis paper well. I believe it was titled "That There Thingamajigger: The Anatomy Of A Super-Compyooter"
Sure, it's a little dated, I mean it WAS 1979. But in a lot of ways, the piece was ahead of its time. For example, take the line "See, you input stuff, we call it 'numbers', into this here end, and on the other end, it will do things scientists never thought possible. Great and wonderful things, like addition."
Genetically different, baby.
Rumble @ Aug 6th 2008 12:27AM
Eddie, wow, you're such a comedian. And your idea of what the South is still sucks. Grow up and come see us for yourself before you whine anymore on a gaming blog, or, I swear, we'll rise again on your ass.
ZeroCorpse @ Aug 6th 2008 6:40PM
I think he was spot on. Southerners really don't have a sense of humor, apparently.
Must be that deep-seated feeling of LOSS from having their butts kicked by us yanks.
Rumble @ Aug 7th 2008 10:04AM
Yes, that's it.
I wouldn't have said anything, but this is the second time Eddie has made mention of the South in one week. I think he has a fixation.
mattclarkie @ Aug 5th 2008 1:17PM
Are you smarter than a 10year old.
Noel Edmunds, your beard is particularly fine tonight.
todd @ Aug 5th 2008 1:20PM
Primetime?
Easo @ Aug 5th 2008 1:25PM
I thought gameshow games were only coming to xbox primetime, or has that already been done away with?
GANNONSMASH @ Aug 5th 2008 1:48PM
Nobody ever said "only", but they should have for this game.
horngreen @ Aug 5th 2008 3:26PM
Ugh it looks like Sonys HOME not that looking better would make me want this game based on an annoying show.
Maverick Saturn @ Aug 5th 2008 3:36PM
Oh dear, theres lots of people I would love to test on this :)
AnthonyGalindoX @ Aug 5th 2008 5:40PM
Whatever happened to quality control?
Tann @ Aug 5th 2008 7:21PM
not as long as the british version...
AYSTA10YO lol (are you smarter than a 10 year old)
it's quite a good show at times, the (sometimes) dumb people on it definatly make me laugh:)
