Braid is a wonderful game. We can't stop saying it, and we won't stop saying it either. Everyone should at least
try the game. It's pretty, it has beautiful music, and the gameplay is clever and fresh. Okay, that's all. End of rant (for now). There are plenty of
other games to play, after all, many of them
good ones. Just what will you be playing this weekend, hmmm?

BF:BC and Kane and Lynch for cheevo farming.
I think it's funny that Richard says "we" when it's clear that HE is the big fanboy for Braid. :) I did try it. Meh.
sifer2400 @ Aug 9th 2008 1:30AM
braid was good for the first 2 levels then i gave up lol time to game fax that shit and farm the chevvos out of it yea 15 its a good game if u have the patience for that shit waiting for castle crashers
Mjkeller @ Aug 9th 2008 1:33PM
@Sifer2400
I have no idea what you just said there.. Do you even know what you just said?
MC Double Def DP @ Aug 8th 2008 3:09PM
Braid & Soul Calibur 4 on my new 360 elite I got from Dell.com for $299!!! Thank you again X3F! Even with the free shipping, it has already been delivered and it's in my hands now. I even found someone to buy the fugly faceplates to cover the $14 tax I had to pay on it.
UNSCleric @ Aug 8th 2008 3:13PM
Not all of us have $15 to waste on a short Arcade game.

Relevant.
deaftly @ Aug 8th 2008 4:41PM
Get a job hippie!
Intangible 360 @ Aug 8th 2008 5:14PM
Not only relevant, but TB pretty much destroys this asinine argument.
leo2178 @ Aug 8th 2008 6:22PM
Leave it to the makers of one extremely overpriced game to make a comic strip about people not wanting to pay for another overpriced game!
Deathrace King @ Aug 8th 2008 8:59PM
@leo2178
How do you figure that $15 for a 10 hour (or more) game is extremely expensive when I, and many others, have paid full retail $60 for disc-based games that only lasted 10 hours?
Crabbyman @ Aug 8th 2008 3:14PM
Nothing, just got the RRoD the same day I got my new 42" HDTV. I'd love to try Geo Wars 2 and Braid, but I guess its off to the Wii instead.
ccc @ Aug 8th 2008 3:17PM
It's all about unreal Tournament 3 and Soul Caliber 4.
Jesus Richard are you getting a percentage of Braids sales or what?
Tony @ Aug 8th 2008 3:17PM
I honestly wish the game was $10 just so we didn't have to hear about how expensive it was every day. I cannot wait until that blows over, lol
Anyway, I'll be finishing up Braid. I've not gotten all the pieces in 5 or 6 yet, which looks to unlock another area.
AoE @ Aug 8th 2008 4:01PM
wow, you paid $15 for it and lived to tell the tale? Amazing, based on all the complaints I assumed that the $5 above the norm was *actually* fatal...
Fenix @ Aug 8th 2008 3:17PM
I gots the RRoD last Sunday :( and my shipping box just came in yesterday. Going to drop it off at UPS right when I get off work. So I'm not playing anything! DAMNIT!
Well, I might play some PS3 COD4 and SSHD.
*might...
Ben @ Aug 8th 2008 3:20PM
Playing through The Simpsons Game right now. It's pretty good and the writing is great. I think I might use some saved up credit at Gamestop for some spacebucks to pick up Braid. I liked the trial.
Jonman @ Aug 8th 2008 3:29PM
Finishing most of Braid, a bit of Burnout with a buddy back in Blighty, some Lost Odyssey, and a bit of assorted cheevo-tidy-work in some of my older games. And some Civ, as that's a perfect Sunday morning hangover game.
And probably a bit of Geo Wars2 in co-pilot with the missus.
ZEBRA NINER @ Aug 8th 2008 4:28PM
Cheevo!
Magic Whiskey @ Aug 8th 2008 3:31PM
COD4 if I can find the time, some Bad Company, more Geo Wars 2 and today I'll be turning on my Wii for the last time. I'm selling it tomorrow.
Buying points this weekend as well for the rest of the month and to retroactively buy Braid if I can afford it on the 27th.
NvM @ Aug 8th 2008 3:31PM
I really did love Braid, but that $5 extra really does make difference when I want to save my points for Castle Crashers.
Will @ Aug 8th 2008 3:33PM
Xbox 360 sent in for repairs this week. Hopefully, I'll have it back soon.
ZenGaijin @ Aug 8th 2008 3:37PM
Psychonauts - I recently downloaded this off the market place. I remember playing this game but it was all a blur, I'm really enjoying it.

Fire Fawkes @ Aug 8th 2008 3:40PM
Civilization Revolution. I finally finished all the cheevos for it, now I'm just playing because I love it. This is probably the last weekend I'll play for awhile though. Madden is coming.
Aero @ Aug 8th 2008 3:41PM
I finally buckled and got Braid the other day and completed it today.
The last level was brilliant and totally unexpected.
Azrael @ Aug 8th 2008 3:52PM
Sorry, but I seriously just can't see what is so great about Braid to me is just a pretentious rip off of mario bros 1 with just a dash of prince of persia, seriously Ive seen far more inventive platformers as free flash games. (http://www.nitrome.com/games/finalninja/)
Innovative game design? is 2008, A enemy pops out in a platformer and the only way you can deal with it is to jump in its head? I mean, seriously, really?
No thanks, Im playing soul calibur iv (hopefully) and Geometry Wars 2 instead.
Bill @ Aug 8th 2008 7:39PM
So you criticize a "pretentious rip-off of mario bros." by linking to a bionic commando rip-off?
Azrael @ Aug 8th 2008 8:16PM
Hmm.. good point there. Although I havent noticed the resemblance to be honest, maybe because I havent played Bionic Commando rearmed yet? I mean the original Bionic commando doesnt play like that at all. And before you suggest it, that flash game was not mine.
Also Im no fanboy I dont even have a Wii, but does Nintendo know about this little "homage" to them? being sold at $15.00 in a rival company console no less?
I support independent developers but unfortunately there are far more inventive indie games than this left outside in the cold, a lot more.
Nice graphics and style but next time try to actually make a game with it? I mean seriously $15 for a Single player Mario clone? Not my cup of tea, sorry.
Ithilis @ Aug 9th 2008 12:41AM
Anyone thinking it's a Mario clone hasn't really played the game. I'm sorry, but it sounds like you've completely missed the point..
emirabal @ Aug 8th 2008 3:59PM
Braid, GOW, UT3, and finally ill get into Assasins Creed if i have time
AoE @ Aug 8th 2008 4:02PM
CivRev... I still haven't picked up SCIV which I will probably grab this weekend... if I can put down CivRev long enough to go to the store...
Kevin @ Aug 8th 2008 4:05PM
I'll be finishing up braid. Playing some CivRev and Heroes of might and magic V.
For those who don't think Braid is all that.... it's probably because the game requires thinking and that's not going to fit well with your A.D.H.D.
Etchasketchist @ Aug 8th 2008 5:02PM
No need to be elitist Mr. Smartypants.
ZEBRA NINER @ Aug 8th 2008 6:53PM
@ Etchasketchist- It's not enough to just like a game. You must also put down anyone that doesn't like the same game you do. It's common knowledge in the gaming community. ;)
You are welcome in advance for this little piece of info.
leo2178 @ Aug 8th 2008 4:28PM
Not Braid
The Demo was good but it is a 800 point game that got overpriced.
If Halo 3 (or any game for that matter) released to retail at $90 people would be bitching that it came out overpriced.
Well same thing here overpriced by 50%.
Yes $5 is not much of a difference but I will not pay an extra 50% on my games just because the Dev isn't sure he'll make his money back.
Ithilis @ Aug 9th 2008 12:42AM
You do realize that a ton of people happily paid even more than that just to get Halo and a stupid little helmet, right?
Mr.U2 @ Aug 8th 2008 4:35PM
Richard loves his Braid. I don't blame him. It's pretty sweet.
vidGuy @ Aug 8th 2008 4:41PM
Braid, Madden 08, and Halo 3. Looking forward to Madden 09 CE so I can get my Head Coach on.
Fierod @ Aug 8th 2008 5:02PM
I'm plying me some Braid, Gears, GTA 4, COD 4, and Geowars 2.
Calley @ Aug 8th 2008 5:26PM
I will try Braid one more time but in my initial trip through, it looked like Mario Bros. against a backdrop of Impressionist Art....Big Whoop.
So my For Sure will be more Geometry Wars 2, Cheevo Farming on Meet the Robinsons and Rock Band, Building the Son's Garden up in Viva Pinata, and finally some late night Battlefield Bad Company...along with some much needed Preseason Football
Nerdy Bird @ Aug 8th 2008 5:37PM
Just played this for a few minutes the other day and enjoyed it quite a bit. Yeah, its a Mario rip-off but that's what makes it so quirky. Plus it's gorgeous and being able to reverse time is amazing.
Dan @ Aug 8th 2008 5:56PM
I WOULD get Braid...
.... but don't have no Xbox Live.
:( @ Aug 8th 2008 6:13PM
Splinter Cell: Double Agent (Save, f up, load, f up, load, f up, load, success, save... repeat) and GTA4 online.
Stig @ Aug 8th 2008 6:25PM
Braid! I'm just 3 pieces away from finishing it up. I can't believe how many people complain about the price. Its worth it, in every way. One of the most satisfying games I've ever played. And its a game I'll probably replay (which i never do!)
Madden 08 is calling too, need to get a couple seasons finished before i pick up 09 CE. And probably some Rock Band as well, since its been a while :)
LFotF @ Aug 8th 2008 6:38PM
Yeah, Braid is exceptionally awesome!
I will be playing Braid, Soul Calibur IV, and maybe a few rounds of Halo 3.
Flakundenga @ Aug 8th 2008 6:48PM
After finally finishing the amazing Mass Effect I think I'll attempt to finish GTAIV but I doubt it I get bored too easily while playing it. Also I'll be playing some more Condemned 1 and Half Life and of course Halo 3
Sgt Barone @ Aug 8th 2008 6:59PM
Halo 3, Soul Calibur 4, Unreal Tournament 3, and Rock Band. Me and my bro will be hittin these up all weekend (everything has co-op!!!)!
Ithilis @ Aug 9th 2008 1:18AM
Man, I'm starting to think that Jonathan Blow's use of Mario-esque themes as an allegory for the protagonist's struggle was, while brilliant, a huge mistake. Some people just can't get passed it.
The resemblance to Mario is symbolic to what's happening in the story, but the game is NOT a Mario clone. You can run through the level, jumping on the heads of creatures and proceed straight to the exit if you wish, but you won't actually accomplish anything in the long run. Why? Because the real game lies with in the puzzle pieces, most of which require more thought and consideration that any Mario game ever has, or will.
In addition to this, the story, which may seem incomprehensible to some at first, is far more mature than any Mario game could hope to achieve. It's hard to justify this claim without massive spoilers, but the perceived innocence of the game, propagated by the Mario-esque theme (an innocent story intentionally chosen because we, as gamers, are very familiar with it) eventually slips away to reveal something much more real.
Perhaps I'm reading too much into it, I don't know, but I know I'm not the only one analyzing the symbolism in this game (the ending alone has generated dozens of forum threads)..
If David Lynch made a videogame, it would be Braid..
bigdaddy @ Aug 9th 2008 12:52PM
"The resemblance to Mario is symbolic to what's happening in the story, but the game is NOT a Mario clone. You can run through the level, jumping on the heads of creatures and proceed straight to the exit if you wish..."
I LOL'd in RL. Thanks for that. Wait, I've got one too:
No, no, no. These aren't regular beans. Oh no my trend-setting friend. These are MAGIC beans. And a steal at only $15. I might as well just GIVE them away I'm losing so much money!
Ithilis @ Aug 9th 2008 2:40PM
You win a being ignorant! Good job!
