Way too expensive Dark Knight 360s flood eBay
With box office numbers soaring past the $440 million mark, The Dark Knight is one hot, hot, hot brand. This is exactly why lucky promotion winners are willing to put their rare The Dark Knight themed Xbox 360s on eBay, to capitalize on the hype and make a fist full of cash.Winners of the Dominos Pizza's "The Cards Tell the Tale" Sweepstakes were awarded one of 110 The Dark Knight Xbox 360s (20GB models, no less) and now they're flooding eBay with some very high price tags. If you want one (and really, who wouldn't want a 360 plastered with the Joker on its side?) expect to pay two to three times the value of a Pro console itself. Heck, even "legit" auctions with sixteen plus bids have exceeded the $800 mark, which we expect to only climb. We wish we weren't so seriously jealous right now ...

Heh, a guy I know has one and is thinking about holding out until the holidays. He wants to break a grand, I guess.
ZEBRA NINER @ Aug 12th 2008 3:53PM
I just saw this movie last night! It was awesome!
However, paying that much for a Dark Knight 360 is dumb. You could take some of that money and get someone to paint your xbox with anything you want.
People will try to make a buck off of anything! Speaking of which, I just found a Jesus-shaped pretzel, it's for sale... starting at $500. Come on folks, only $500 for salty salvation!
Vcize @ Aug 12th 2008 4:00PM
This is actually way less than I thought they would go for. I'm more startled that people are startled that these things are going for $800 than anything else.
Given that there are only and will only ever be 110 of these I expected them to be well up in the thousands, easily.
DBoyFlex @ Aug 12th 2008 4:12PM
I want one... for free.
AoE @ Aug 12th 2008 7:34PM
missed your chance.
DBoyFlex @ Aug 12th 2008 8:42PM
I know. I still want a free one.

Quick, pay-up for the right to advertise a product you receive no income for!!!!!!
Where's my $40 Abercrombie T-shirt? I need to head out for some McDonalds and a Coke. It's just not cool unless it's branded all over the place.
Okay, maybe if it's kept mint in 30 years it will be worth something. Just like those yellow Pokemon GameBoys. Oh, wait.
Maybe a Planet Hollywood will stick one up on a restroom wall.
Digital Limit @ Aug 12th 2008 4:29PM
A Batman-adorned 360 is a HUGE jump from say, a Coke-adorned one. These aren't masquerading advertisements. If I could have a 360 with Heath Ledger's badassery on it, I would want it. Really, you have to be joking.
thisguyrighthere @ Aug 12th 2008 4:49PM
I was going to go off on you having Brokeback Mountain posters hanging in your closeted homo little boy bedroom but at the last minute decided that would be unnecessarily mean spirited so I won't.
JSBeckerist @ Aug 12th 2008 5:24PM
May I ask why? You're still buying what amounts to an advertisement. Why is it worth more money, outside of maybe re-sale or sentimental value?
AoE @ Aug 12th 2008 7:37PM
@JSBeckerist,
I take it you're not American? It's rare, and that's pretty much ALL that is required to drive the price up on something around here. Sadly absolutely everything is collectible (and collected) these days.
Trogdor @ Aug 12th 2008 4:14PM
Man, we don't have a Dominos near my house, so I couldn't win one. Sure as heck won't pay $800 for one.
Chester @ Aug 12th 2008 4:42PM
The sad part is im actually debating on buying one!
Damn u Dark Knight!
DiddlyKong @ Aug 12th 2008 5:52PM
This is way better than the "I am rich" application on the I-phone ($999.99 for a picture of a red ruby).
Jonman @ Aug 12th 2008 6:17PM
If I'd had to eat a Domino's pizza in order to win one of these, I'd damn-well expect a thousand bucks in compensation.
jim @ Aug 12th 2008 6:43PM
shit I wish I sold mine. Its just too cool for me to part with haha
RedSonRising @ Aug 12th 2008 7:00PM
so stupid to buy.. for $25US you can make your own custom skin..
http://www.uniqueskins.com/Products/Microsoft/Xbox+360
or remove the side panels and faceplate and have it air brushed for a fraction of the price
Maverick Saturn @ Aug 13th 2008 9:52AM
Awfully pretty though :D
Maverick Saturn @ Aug 13th 2008 9:52AM
Tempted to touch

No doubt it look snice, but I spend most of my time playing the games on my 360, not staring at the shell. $800 seems a bit of a pricey way to show off to your mates.
