Star Trek Online could have cross-platform play
Think about it, is it really very strange that Star Trek Online could have cross-platform play? After all, Captain Kirk had all kinds of cross-species lovin', so why not? According to the Star Trek Online FAQ, the upcoming muhmohrpuguh from Cryptic Studios might have cross-platform play between the PC and it's console cousins. Regarding the possibility, the FAQ states "We would like that to be the case. There is nothing technologically keeping us from making it so." It's not an outright declaration that there will be cross-platform play, but it's not a denial either.
For the sake of peace throughout the galaxy, let's hope that Cryptic does indeed make it so.

What does this have to do with Braid? I was under the impression that all of Richard's posts from now on would be Braid related. ;)

I say this with love, Richard. Damn you and your Picard song. It's going to be stuck in my head for years now..and I'll be found dead in the bathtub. Two can play at that game...

Star Trek Online just sounds like a bad idea to begin with, cross platform or not.
Magic Whiskey @ Aug 13th 2008 6:24PM
I don't know if I have an opinion about a Trek online game, but I'd love to finally be able to play a game where you can walk around within the entire Enterprise-D, as well as crawl through the Jeffrey's (sp) tubes.
And that song is still stuck in my head.

you gotta try Elite Force Magic. both 1 and 2 have tons of decks in both Voyager and the 1701D

Sounds to me like an outright (er, I mean implied) and preemptive declaration that any possible future blame for lack of cross-platform play can placed at the feet of the platform manufacturers or publisher(s).

Yay for the Picard song!

does anyone really care about cross platform play? Do I really care if the 12 year old cursing kid is using a PS3 or PC or Mac or whatever?
Tony @ Aug 14th 2008 12:45AM
Well, for MMORPGs it's nice because it easily expands how many people could be playing it at once.
Scott @ Aug 13th 2008 11:59PM
This is only gonna cause online fanboy wars
mattclarkie @ Aug 14th 2008 6:34AM
Come'on your kidding me.
They will never make it so.
Boff @ Aug 14th 2008 6:40AM
"Cross-platform play? We cannae do it Captain. She won't hold. We don't have the power Captain."
Boff @ Aug 14th 2008 6:55AM
Forgot to say, nice pic!
Redshirt looks scared. Do you think he knows? He certainly seems to suspect. Look at him.
koehler83 @ Aug 14th 2008 8:42AM
I wonder if there will be a "Red Shirt" class. The only class in any game ever to be completely restricted to level 1 until death.
ryan @ Aug 14th 2008 1:07PM
lol. redshirts are hardcore!
