Microsoft: News from Liberty City this Autumn
As info for all things other than the Xbox 360 arrives fresh from the Leipzig Games Convention, Microsoft took the opportunity to tease Grand Theft Auto IV gamers with the upcoming exclusive downloadable content. "In autumn there will be news from Liberty City; the first episodes of GTA IV will be available for download exclusively on Xbox LIVE, underlining Xbox 360's leadership role in the field of digital entertainment."
While the obvious assumption is "news from Liberty City" points at an Autumn launch for the first episode of the content, the "news" referenced in the quote could be a solidified release date for the long-awaited content. Take-Two previously noted that the DLC is expected to arrive during Fiscal Q109 -- which for Take-Two falls between the beginning of November 2008 and the end of January 2009 -- but Microsoft has stood firm on a 2008 release for Episode One.

I want the content out this fall, not just the news about it. This better be out this calendar year, R*, or you will pay. YOU'LL ALL PAY!!!

I hardly see anyone playing this on my friend's list... I've also put GTA on the shelf for a bit... However I do look forward to hearing more about this!

I can't wait for them to soon be released on the PS3 after the 360, Rockstar has never been able to keep something exclusive, the closest thing to exclusive was the stories games and they kept those in the ps family.

You would be waiting a long time, these have been paid for by Microsoft, the PS3 is getting different DLC that is also on the 360 but it is different from this stuff.

I think they could have done better stuff with DLC for this game to keep it fresh. One simple idea being new updates to content already in the game:
New radio stations
New tracks on current radio station
New comedians in the clubs
I completed the 100% a long time ago so feel like these kind of regular(ish) updates would have given more replay value.
Having said that I am still putting the disc into the drive every now and again for some online madness. I do love this game online, just so much hilarity!!!

It's about time!

I think about 10 games are coming out between now and then that capture my interest, and this will most likely be released when I am deeply involved in at least 3 of them... in other words, bad timing. i'm dying for something to play now though, and Braid and BC:RA aren't cutting it.

I hope the wait turns out to be worthy.

I REALLY want this!! Don't have my other 360 yet. Put a coffin in the box and I'm sold. Should be a standard item on the list of contents along with 2 controllers, etc. Brand new 360 should have a special collector's edition green coffin. But only if you're on your 3rd 360. That probably includes everybody. Free coffins for everybody should be a store promotion. That'll move 360's.
Zeus.:God @ Aug 21st 2008 12:33PM
My launch console never got the red rings.

I'm still bashing out the 'Story mode in under 30hrs' achievement so the game should still be quite fresh when the DLC arrives.
And seeing as you're asking:
9hrs43min 75 missions completed ;o)
