New COD4 playlists inch toward release
Infinity Ward community guru fourzerotwo has once again posted an update on the upcoming Call of Duty 4 playlists in production. Fans will be disappointed to hear that we still don't know when the new playlists will actually be implemented. Still, fourzerotwo drops some info on new playlists and where they currently stand as far as testing. One interesting note is that there are some playlists in testing that would actually require a patch to implement, which may be more than Infinity Ward's current schedule can handle. Still, there are some playlists that might not require a patch, so we're hopeful that we'll actually get to see them soon. Check out descriptions of each new mode at fourzerotwo's blog. (be sure to check out Hardcore Ricochet, in which friendly fire damage is reflected back to the team killer).

I don't get it.... I feel like there is a new playlist every time I play COD4..... the maps are always in different sequences....
Does this mean they're coming out with new maps? or just changing the order of the existing maps? I dont get it....

NEVERMIND I GET IT... New "Playlists" really mean new game modes:
Hardcore Headquarters - No Patch Required
Testing is completed for Hardcore HQ. This playlist has standard HQ rules w/ Hardcore Settings. Limited HUD, Increased Bullet Damage, and Friendly Fire Enabled.
Hardcore Ricochet Playlist - Currently Testing
We’re currently testing this playlist now to see if a patch will be required for it or not. We should know soon. This is the No Teamkilling playlist. Any damage a teamkiller attempts to do to their team mates is reflected onto themselves only. Therefore, if they attempt to shoot an RPG into the ground at the beginning of the match; the only person who will die, is the Teamkiller. This eliminates the fear of being shot in the back by some asshole, but still encourages players to play tactically and not throw random nades, because if you accidentally hit a teammate, you’re only going to end up killing yourself and they’ll go unharmed. No Teamkilling, No Random Nades. This playlist will include the variant for Hardcore Teamdeathmatch, Hardcore Search and Destroy, and Hardcore HQ.
Sudden Death Sabotage - Currently Testing
Sabotage with no respawns. Fast-paced and intense Sabotage. No more hiding with the bomb until time runs out for sudden death. Increased XP per kills to encourage Team Deathmatch mentality. Defend your objective, while attempting to secure the bomb and plant on theirs. Once you’re dead, you’re dead. No second chances. We’re currently testing to see if this can be implemented without a patch.
Second Chance Search and Destroy - Currently Testing
Search and Destroy with 1 respawn each. This completely revamps your Search and Destroy tactics. No longer will lucky frag or well-placed claymore end your chance of victory. Each player has 1 respawn, creating longer more thoughout attack / defend strategies. Eliminate enemy players, and cut off their reinforcements while you defuse.

Man if you could kill Stay Puff in this game, i'd be all over it!!
joeybeast @ Aug 20th 2008 5:05PM
If I can headshot the pilot or gunner in the chopper I'd be happy.
Rick @ Aug 20th 2008 5:08PM
Yes, that's nice. So when will new maps be coming?
SoL @ Aug 20th 2008 5:26PM
I cant wait, though I mainly play hc S&D, playing hc ricochet sounds awesome, not a big fan of TDM, and dont really have that many problems with team killing since I mostly play with friends, but when i jump on and nobody on for a quick couple of games it should work very well.
Delirium @ Aug 20th 2008 6:15PM
Why do they need hardcore ricochet? Can't they just modify all playlists with reflective damage? COD2 had a function for people hosting so they could have reflective on. It's the same concept except applied to all playlists.
It just seems like a playlist dedicated to not getting spawn killed by your own asshole teammates.

ur teamates can run in front of u on purpose just 2 kill u
Marrvia @ Aug 20th 2008 8:25PM
I just think its lame that they call them "playlists". Why is a game mode called a list? Makes no sense.
Arnon @ Aug 20th 2008 9:17PM
I guess cause you play games from a list of modes.
gayboyDS @ Aug 20th 2008 10:11PM
I'd buy COD4 if the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man was in it! Ghostbusters is my favorite movie!
And the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man isn't so tough! I've known a lot of sailors in my day... they may seem like tough guys but if you know where to scratch them they turn into Disco Queens! (Snap!!)
Boff @ Aug 21st 2008 4:26AM
Best screenshot ever. Now that's a game mode I'd like to see!!
Make it happen IW!!!
P.S. I thought it was the Stay Puft (puffed) marshmallow man. Not Stay Puff.
gayboyDS @ Aug 21st 2008 9:18AM
You are correct sir! It's Stay Puft! I was confused because someone called me a "Puff" recently! =)
Boff @ Aug 21st 2008 10:59AM
What, like a cheesy puff? ;o)
gayboyDS @ Aug 21st 2008 12:36PM
Mmmm... More like a "Big Pink Puff!"
RJO @ Aug 28th 2008 12:42PM
I just want the current paid maps to be free (or at least discounted). I don't feel like my 60$ game should cost me 70$.
gene @ Sep 29th 2008 7:27PM
it would be awesome if the person who killed the stay puft marshmellow man, could control him in the next round, i would pay to be able to do that!
