And the August Xbox Live Arcade onslaught continues. This week it's time for Galaga to make a comeback. We're talking about Galaga Legions of course. Created by the same team that transformed Pac-Man into Pac-Man Championship Edition, Galaga Legions takes the original Galaga formula and expands upon it, making an old game feel new again. The only question, especially given the quality we've seen this month, is whether or not it feels new enough. Check out the latest episode of XBLA in Brief to find out.

This game is so intense.. it really is worth buying if you love the arcade shooters.. as for people switching in and out, you can just hand the controller to someone else lolz.
I don't really think Galaga necessarily compares to GeoWars, but given all the great games out this month, I do feel like Galaga is the weakest. That's still not an insult, because it's really good. Just not as good as everything else out this month.
It's kind of amazing how much XBLA has turned around. This month in general has been fantastic... I remember when we'd all lament how it was nothing but garbage and we'd have weeks with absolutely nothing.
I can't even think of anything to complain about anymore. I hope next month is as good. Seems promising already.
I think in the end it comes down to taste. You have two great shooters out within a month and two different kinds: one is a twinstick shooter, the other is a classic shooter. I'm not a fan of GeoWars, or twinstick shooters in general, so I'll probably pick this up after Castle Crashers.
The weakest my ass man. Braid and geowars2 both are worthess games to me. This game is fantastic, not as good as Bionic Commando but still the second best. Its bull you even mentioned geowars2 only for its local co-op play and played it like that gives it a major edge over this. Take that feature away and just look at the games themselves. Galaga is a shooter like GW2 not omni directional but still shoorters and there isn't a damn thing GW2 even comes close to doing as well as GL.
As far as I can tell with the exception of a few new modes that noone really cares about, GW2 is the exact same game as the last one but for twice as much money.
GL is a completly new and fresh take on the series. This game may be better than Ikaruga, I just havn't put in enough time yet to know that for sure. But it is for sure that it's damn good.
This development team is one of the best making digital games these days right behind Capcom. I hope they do Rolling Thunder next.
I am only going to get the demo of this game for the summer of arcade contest. It looks like it could be a lot of fun though. I was never very good at these types of shooters in the arcade when I was a kid, but maybe with a 360 controller I will do better.
I like game with a touch of strategy in them But not strategy games. I found the turrets cool and feels like a turret defense game. The best feature IMO is the classic skin which makes the ship and enemies all retro.
If I had the spare points (besides the ones I have for Castle Crashers), I would've probably bought this game.
And like others have said, I didn't really even think of Geometry Wars when playing it. If it came out earlier though, it would've probably been better but all of the XBLA releases have been great so far.
The game is really fun, but I think I wasted my 800points as I find it too difficult.
The idea of the turrets is great, but they don't give you long enough to get them into position(if you've played the game you will understand I am talking about the yellow markers), so you might as well not be given the markers, and then you keep running into them and un-deploying them. They needed to make a button undeploy the guns.
It is a blast to play, but the numbers of enemies are too much for me and I prefer the standard Galaga.
I felt the same as you when I played it at first, but grew to get some of the strategy. The turrets aren't there to completely destroy the enemies, but to assist you a bit. They can be very useful in keeping yourself from being overwhelmed.
This is like Geo Wars in that the screen is all crazy all the time, but other than that it's not that similar. Kind of like comparing Condemned and Halo 3...looks similar at first glance, but plays very differently.

This seems to be the overall theme from people. It's almost instantly compared to Geometry Wars.
So far, to me, it feels like Galaga is a very enjoyable overall experience.

I know they're both shooters, but I don't see the direct comparisons to Geometry Wars. While playing it, that didn't even cross my mind.
All I was really thinking is that it was fun and that it actually plays a lot different than I figured it would.

I think I have a better chance of getting some high scores with this game. I hope some of my friends pick it up, so we can grind on the scoring.

Very cool game. NOTHING like GeoWars, IMO

Left Bumper moves the turrets back to your side.

I played this game for a full minute. Everything was flashing so fast, I thought I was going to have a seizure and I'm not epileptic.
Plus GeoWars2 is so much more fun.

It shoulda only been two comments, they didn't show up and when I typed em again then they showed. Resulting in many comments. Not a Troll.
Also I couldn't figure out how to email the staff.

Its a good game, and for 800 MS points i'd say it was worth it.
Game gets really hard halfway through the second level -_-
