PS3 Alone in the Dark fixes coming to 360

There are a lot of things that Alone in the Dark does very well. Building yourself a Molotov cocktail and subsequently taping a box of ammunition to it is not without its charm. Throwing said contraption onto a hapless zombie? Well that's just awesome. Unfortunately, other much more simple things, like camera controls, driving and combat can be a chore. Thankfully, it looks like developer Eden games if fixing many of these issues in the PS3 version. Even better, an upcoming patch should implement many of the improvements into the Xbox 360 version.

For example, Edward Carnby, the game's protagonist, now runs by default (rather than when the A button is held). Walking is accomplished by gently pushing the analog stick (what a revolutionary idea). Many other changes, including a better -- and manually controlled -- camera and improved driving controls, improve the game substantially according to Eurogamer. Exactly which PS3 improvements will make it into the 360 version remains unclear, but we'll happily take anything that can improve Alone in the Dark's more annoying aspects.

I thought Lair was fine. Dont know why people hate it.

I havnt even thought of getting Alone in the Dark. I MAY pick it up when the patch comes though.

So, this the "this game sucks" hotfix? If so, sweet. If not, what is the point? I don't know *anyone* who has this game that does not hate it.

I don't hate it. I actually like it quite a bit. Only problem I have is with some of the design choices and the glitches.

I thought it was really good myself! Yes the controls suck at times but they can be mastered!

This is great news! I heard a lot of good things about what the game does but just as many complaints about how poorly it is handled.

Is there a solid release date for the ps3 version? I have seen anywhere from mid October to the end of November...

I really liked it. It had a few foobles, but over all it was a great game. Well worth the money I paid for it.

I agree. I really liked it myself. I only rented it though... and it was a free rental... so... might have a different opinion if I had actually bought it, but I had fun with it.

I liked that game, but it was really clunky... Well I hope the patch fixes several things. Or it might need a miracle to fix that game.

Alone in the dark was a very promising game until it was released, got all the bad reviews for some of the stupid choices the development team made. I'm glad these "improvements" are coming to the game but sadly, it won't change the scores the 360 version of the game has gotten. The PS3 version however will probably do slightly better in the reviews.

Now we just need concrete information on what exactly they are fixing in the 360 version.. Then people might actually pick the game up.
