Bungie clears up Halo 3 rumors, reveals matchmaking updates

First on the list of Bungie news, some rumor squashing. According to team Bungie, the Halo 3 acceptance videos that fans across the internets have picked apart and analyzed have been picked apart and analyzed way too much. Bluntly put, Bungie informs us that "there will be no insertion of Campaign objects, enemies or friendlies via the Forge as folks have speculated" and that there will be no "new feature that implements Campaign objects into multiplayer." Bungie then gives everyone some life advice, telling us all to "calm yourselves down, pump the brakes, and take a breath." Consider us calmed, breathed and our brakes pumped.
Other than some rumor busting, there's a list of September Halo 3 matchmaking updates (the removal and addition of various playlists) and confirmation that, come September 16th, the second Halo 3 title update will be released. Finally, for PAX attendees, Bungie plans on doing a few autograph signings, a few Recon competitions and selling a limited number of PAX-exclusive Bungie t-shirts. Phew! First, not that I really cared but it seems like the thing to do. Anywho, I was hoping that we would get new maps a la "Purple Haze" and maybe seeing the Legendary Map pack go for free. Oh well, wishing for too much I guess.

The current maps which you pay for are NEVER EVER going to be free.

As far as i know, they have not said they are never going to be free, they have just said there are no plans to make them free.
This seems like a way to make people buy the maps and not simply wait for them to go free like what happened with the Heroic Map Pack. There is still a chance they will go for free in the future, like when the new maps get released perhaps

In an update a long time ago, they stated that there was no plans to ever make the maps free (at that point). Things may have changed.

yea when they said a title update i got all excited! but then i read the article and all they could come up with was removing shield doors and putting witty names in front of those "revamped" maps. come on, there has to be more to a title update than REMOVING things that used to be there.

wow we definetly need better match making in halo 3. just got it friday im a sergent grade 2. last night i was playin with my brother hes a gunner. or whatever that one is. but we were doing social slayer and we were on a team with an appretence and a recruit. Against we were versing a 5 star general and a kernal a colonel sergeant.
We got pwned. Is wasnt even funny.

What does it mean title update? Like a game update like GoW's "Refresh" edition that just came out? Are they re-releasing Halo 3 with all the new maps?

I think it's a bit obtuse of Bungie to tell us to "calm yourselves down, pump the brakes, and take a breath." They were the ones who started this hype parade. First, it was the countdown to an apology... and then it was an acceptance vid that misled people into thinking new features were on the way.
Halo 3. Believe.
