Best Buy has a rather enjoyable Guitar Hero III offer where, with a successful pre-order of Metallica's upcoming Death Magnet album, you'll receive eleven GHIII tracks. DLC tracks that we presume come from the album itself. There are three different flavors of the album to pre-order that range from $10 to $30 that'll get you the free songs (while supplies last). Metallica fans, it's time to go shopping.

so stop whining about how YOU think metallica sucks or YOU think guitar hero sucks, and just let X3F tell us the news:)
im sure there are a lot of gh3 players out there who wouldbe happy to know that they can get the album on disc AND in the game for only 10$!

that sounds pretty good to me, even if their new album isn't meant to be their best, i think 11 songs in a game and on cd for 10$ is worth it, no matter what the band!!

Amen. Dude you're 100% right about how people today listen to garbage like My Chemical Romance and Three Days Grace and think it's rock. In fact, there's some faggot prep in my math class who makes fun of me and my friends for listening to metallica, megadeth, slayer, and other metal bands, when his choice of music is shit like breaking benjamin WTFF!?!?!?! And I do think old Metallica is better, but I really actually like St. Anger (Some Kind of Monster rock on!!!) I mean the drums were fuckin crazy. And their new single The Day That Never Comes is alright, but starts to sound almost 100% like a clone of One towards the solo. Really fast notes, then a solo that slides down the neck of the guitar. But other then that its good. But about new stuff ReLoad was total shit except for Fuel, The Unforgiven II, and Carpe Diem Baby. So you haters quit listening to shit like chris brown, justin timberlake, 50 cent, and all that other shit and listen to real music; Metallica, the masters of metal, the four horsemen, the true Gods of rock. Metallica is not just thrash music, and they haven't been for a long time. Just because they create music they like and not what you like makes them a worse band. I think they still kept the essence of Metallica alive throughout the years, and you will never be satisfied by anything they create ever again, because you have such strong nostalgia of them in their twenties. Back on topic, it seems like a good deal, but I don't own any GH games; however, my roommate has Rock Band. lol

Well, the first few songs that came out from this CD weren't that good, but their latest one, My Apocalypse, is pretty kick ass. I would get this, but there's two things: If I get this, will I get the free tracks for GH3 AND GH:WT? And how come it says 11 tracks, if the CD only has 10...

The album art in the link shows the GHWT and GHIII logos.

Maybe a exclusive bonus Metallica track that is featured in GH: Metallica? Maybe the guitar track for Trapped Under Ice, which is in World Tour?

Who knows. Might just be an error, too.

Also, agree with Tann. This is a fucking excellent value. I bet when Death Magnetic goes up for DLC, it'll be more than 800 MSP (If GH3 price trends continue, that is). So getting the album DLC for most likely cheaper, the possibility of an extra song, and a hard copy of the album? Win. This deal is good.

Someone named Paul Stanley is criticizing Metallica? lol that is classic. They were amazing at ozzfest this year, as they always are live. So I guess they should go the way of kiss and stop putting out albums? Vote with your pocketbook, don’t buy tickets or albums like you are now. Their sales numbers look pretty good without your allowance little one. And if you really were 17 when the black album came out, stop living in the past and go back and play your ps3.

If you happen to want these free tracks, for whatever reason, make sure you keep tabs on your pre-order and keep a look out for community members to give away the pre-order code. I say this because my last experience with Best Buy and the pre-order bonus, those free Disturbed tracks for Indestructible, was quite poor.

Long story short, I never got my codes, several members of a community I lurk in didn't as well, and if it wasn't for the fact that the download code was universal I would never have gotten my free tracks.

Regardless of whether you like the band or not it seems like a good deal. Free download content for GH3 sounds good to me. Come on are you going to tell me that you like all the songs on the default GH3, of course not. So, a couple of extra songs is nice, plus you can sell the CD afterwards (I'm not even going to open it), I just want the download content.

* I hear what the other posts say with being screwed with the bonus content from Best Buy. I don't have any experience with it so I cant say. But if there are issues, hopefully there will be an update post here.

Hold on a sec, X3F. I ordered the 9.99 CD from bestbuy.com, and NO DLC card. Calling Best Buy to complain netted me the explanation that I should have KNOWN that you had to buy the $30 special edition from Best Buy to get the DLC. So, now I have a CD I didn't want, and no DLC. That ad is misleading as all get out, but the Best Buy rep I spoke to refused to acknowledge that (if I read your post, you were led to believe you could order the $10 CD and get the DLC, but NOPE). Down with Best Buy, I want my $10 back (or my DLC)
