CoD4 double XP weekend planned, new playlist release a possibility

Fresh from his travels to Seattle for the Penny Arcade Expo, Infinity Ward's own fourzertwo posted an update on his blog, announcing a Call of Duty 4 double XP weekend that they have planned. The weekend of double XP is scheduled to run from September 13th through the 14th and, even though the weekend fun has nothing to do with the upcoming CoD4 playlists, fourzertwo mentions that it's their goal to release them prior to the event. So, there's a distinct possibility that we'll be experiencing twice the XP and new CoD4 playlists in a few week's time. Keep those toes crossed.

It's high time for new COD4 maps too, I think!

While scanning the InfinityWard.com forums last week, I came across a post from someone (no idea how credible they are) responding to a request for new maps by saying that IW has stated there will be no new maps for COD4 because they are concentrating on other projects. I hope that's wrong, because it would be nice to have another map pack.

Phuck new maps! I just bought the GOTY Edition and didnt get the free token to download them. Activision pulled a bait n switch on this edition and told me it was a "limited" promotion and only some had the maps. I'm reporting Activision to the BBB! Thank you very much to all the game sites for implying it was a sure deal!

COD4 has been pissing me off with the lack of a playlist update or new maps for months. I quit so much because of it.

I just don't understand why these game companies make the customer wait so long for additional content. COD4 has been out for a year now, and we got 3 maps (1 of which is a remake of an old map), big deal! The game was ranked as the #1 online game on XBOX Live, and we get 1 measly DLC update. GTA IV has been out for a year too, and we've gotta wait another month for some DLC? How about releasing the stuff while the game is still popular and relevant. Not to say GTA is a bad game or anything. But it's obvious that the hype surrounding it is all but gone. I doubt this DLC will resurrect what it once was.
I've stopped taking game companies' promises to heart. They work a lot like politicians, all the promises in the world up front. But once you buy into it it's always the same excuses...

double xp points are a bit useless for thos on L55 gold cross, as for dlc very much doubt they will be releasing anytime soon, Also how long before they sort out the server lag and why when there is 11 british and 1 american in a game does it always insist on the american hosting, cod 5 boycotted as well as cod 6 if they cant get this sorted out.this is typical get the sales then give up and focus on a different game. Sorry had my rant now
