Wow. I'm a PS Fanboy. But I must say this is a good deal...it's odd that i just read this article yesterday. So conflicted!

Well, like Sony hasn't had their share of hardware issues. PS 1 and 2 both had heatdeath problems.
Zeus.:God @ Sep 6th 2008 11:58PM
Not to mention millions of defective disc drives.

Pfft...I'm on my 3rd PS3 and I bought it in April this year. The first one lasted 3 hours! Try googling "PS3 bluetooth controller issue" and see how many people have this hardware failure that Sony doesn't talk about. The longest I can play is 10 minutes before my PS3 "forgets" how to deal with bluetooth, and I have to do a hard reboot by throwing the switch on the back. This next replacement better work or some dumb sap on ebay is getting it! Luckily I'm within the scant 1 year warranty.
For the record, I've had one 360 fail in over 2 years. It wasn't RROD and it still got repaired for free!

Very nice deal... I wish Sony would do this as well.
Jason @ Sep 6th 2008 11:43AM
If you buy an elite, does it come with the cable to transfer hard drives? If not, how would one recommend transferring my data?
Ideally, I'd like to do this deal then trade in my pro system to gamestop or somewhere for store credit.
psychohog @ Sep 6th 2008 12:08PM
It does not include a data migration transfer kit. BUT, you can get it free from xbox.com's website once you have your new console's serial number. I just got my kit and it took 14 days for the entire process, not too bad.

Thanks pliny5678 and psychohog
WheelSee @ Sep 6th 2008 6:28PM
Or you can call 1-800-4MYXBOX and get it shipped just did it and the process took 3-4 days

The Elite doesn't come with a transfer cable, but you can get one for free from Xbox.com. You have to get the PDF at the bottom of the page and print it out.

So you get a free game with your new Elite - if I didn't already have a 360 I would definitely be taking advantage of this :D
monkeymonkeymonkey @ Sep 6th 2008 12:29PM
where do you see a free game with the Elite system?
MSG is good 4 u @ Sep 6th 2008 12:51PM
by free game he means the $60 gift card since most xbox games cost $60. This is a hot deal.
vidGuy @ Sep 6th 2008 1:05PM
$60 giftcard = free game (well, for the price of shipping)
I too am tempted by this deal. I just want the bigger HDD.
JerkfacedFed @ Sep 6th 2008 2:01PM
dont you also get forza 2 / marvel ultimate alliance bundled
dylan @ Sep 6th 2008 1:32PM
I love my elite so much this tempts me to buy a second one, just for fun...
dylan @ Sep 7th 2008 7:20PM
I say such loving things and then it decides to go RROD on me! Whaaaaah!
waynow @ Sep 6th 2008 2:42PM
do the current 360s still loud as vacuum cleaners?
PhoenixAvatar @ Sep 6th 2008 3:07PM
Bought my first one yesterday, a 60gig and I can barely hear it. Definitely can't hear it when there's any sound coming out of the TV.
Striker @ Sep 6th 2008 11:18PM
I couldn't hear my 11/06 Xenon Premium 360, and my replacement (had a weird thing where it RRoD'd once, and then it worked, but locked up thirty seconds after boot up. MS replaced it for free, I LOVE Microsoft) is even quieter.
Dr. Katz @ Sep 6th 2008 3:14PM
Nice grammar.
Darth Gremlin @ Sep 6th 2008 6:01PM
Almost makes me wish my 360 would red-ring so my wife would let me get the elite.
Mrblonde @ Sep 7th 2008 12:21AM
Put it in the freezer overnight ;)
meatee @ Sep 6th 2008 6:18PM
I just bought a new Elite on eBay a few weeks ago for $350. Now I wish I had waited, would've been a little cheaper (if you subtract the $60 gift card from the price) and I'd get Amazon's excellent customer service. Oh well.
monkeymonkeymonkey @ Sep 6th 2008 6:30PM
$350 for an elite on ebay...ouch. How old was the unit?
meatee @ Sep 6th 2008 7:07PM
It wasn't old at all, it was brand new, unopened box.
Levon @ Sep 6th 2008 7:22PM
I just picked one up. this is the deal I've been waiting for. I'll use the $60 to pre-order Prince of Persia LE, sell my 360 for $200 and sell the data transfer cable for $30 on ebay, so all in all I'll be spending $110 on an elite! That's a damn good deal to me. I'm down to the last 2gb on my 360, plus HDMI and the renewed three year warranty will be nice.
Mrblonde @ Sep 7th 2008 12:23AM
Nice plan =)
Trunas @ Sep 8th 2008 12:52PM
Sounds like what I did a few weeks ago! I got the elite from dell for 349 w/two games and two face plates. I sold my old system for 200 to a friend and traded in the games and faceplates. In the end it only cost me $100 to upgrade to an elite. Congrats to you!
STEVENMPOO7 @ Sep 6th 2008 11:35PM
i ordered mine couple hours ago, 360 Elite FTW! great deal!
Procris @ Sep 7th 2008 7:24AM
This is actually a pretty good deal, not quite as good as the offer best buy(or something like that) offered when they were giving $100 for PS3s.
Levon @ Sep 7th 2008 1:12PM
apples to oranges buddy!
Procris @ Sep 7th 2008 7:25AM
Pretty good deal. Not quite as good as just saving $60 but at least you get to spend it on something else at Amazon.
gayboyDS @ Sep 8th 2008 9:39PM
