An XBLA Threefer: RocketBowl, Samurai Shodown 2 and Shotest Shogi

For the second week in a row, we're being treated to an Xbox Live Arcade threefer. Because, you know, XBLA twofers are so 2007. And heading to the XBLA this Wednesday, September 10th will be D3Publisher's RocketBowl, the SNK Playmore 2D sword fighter Samurai Shodown 2 and AI Factory's chess-inspired Shotest Shogi. All games will cost 800 Microsoft points except Samurai Shodown 2, which will be available for the oh so nice price of 400 MS points.

I'd say that Samurai Showdown 2 was to 2D fighters what Soul Calibur is to 3D fighters. It was also the only reaso to own a NeoGeo. ;)

"Add-on packs: Get the advanced Shogi teaching packs; it's the easiest way to learn."
Really? I have to pay more to get the tutorial?
Jonah Falcon @ Sep 8th 2008 4:02PM
Um, no. More like a strategy guide.

I totally started the Wikipedia article on Shotest Shogi back on Feb 26th and it's culminated in the game's release!
Thanks, X3F !

As far as I can tell, SSII will not have online play. Am I reading this correctly or has someone else gotten any concrete evidence otherwise? It would truly suck if it doesn't although I could see this being the reason it's only $5.
Dodo @ Sep 8th 2008 4:49PM
It has online play achievements...so def. online!!

Too late, already bought SS2 on the Virtual Console last week, though I guess I paid, um... (/me performs complicated space bucks conversion) CDN$2.60 too much. Oh well.

don't worry, the d-pad on the classic controller is 10 times better than that joke of a d-pad on the 360 controller. it doesn't even work well for games like metal slug or contra, let alone a complex 2d fighter that requires that amount of finesse.
unless you have an arcade stick...

Omg, finally!!!
I will check out the other two titles esp. Rocket Bowl but you can go ahead and put me down for Samuri Shodown2 and for 5 bucks NFW!!!!!!!!!
SS2=#78 in my arcade.
Pudge @ Sep 8th 2008 3:03PM
Samurai Showdown 2 for 400 points? Shit YEAH
hlfx @ Sep 8th 2008 3:03PM
What would be the final price? In the official page said 800 pts and on major nelson's blog 400 pts...... i hope 400.....
Jonah Falcon @ Sep 8th 2008 4:04PM

It's a pretty nifty game.
ccc @ Sep 8th 2008 5:11PM
I didn't know RB was a Garage Games production that puts my intrest in it much higher as I have been waiting for that company to put something else out after the amazing Marbleblast Ultra. Their physics engine is amazing as is their imagination.
Aeikozz @ Sep 8th 2008 4:23PM
yay a GOOD 400 point game again!
