Too Human cracks NPD Top 10

While reactions have been mixed since Too Human's release, Silicon Knights president Denis Dyack told X3F in a post game release interview that the team from St. Catharine's, Canada, couldn't be happier with the final product. Controversy aside, Too Human debuted strong and continued sales only solidifies that the previously announced sequels are still in the works. That Valkyrie death animation can still fall in a well and die, though. Just saying.

Too Human FTW!! Ok maybe that was a little too much, but good job Mr. Dyack. I am fully enjoying you game. Were can I get a snazzy Too Human shirt like you guys are wearing in the videos?....hint hint. :-)
mutd1999 @ Sep 19th 2008 10:59AM
I could sell you the one I got plus my autographed copy of Too Human when I picked it up from my local EB Games in the hometown of Silicon Knights. :P
SugarDaddy @ Sep 12th 2008 9:15AM
Couldn't be happier? C'mon. Wouldn't it have been a good idea to include a "Loading..." message during the Valkyrie scene so people actually realized that it was a loading screen and not just some torturous video you have to watch when you die? Couldn't be happier... That doesn't give me much hope for the second Too Human... All the game testers for Too Human should be fired.
MC Double Def DP @ Sep 12th 2008 9:47AM
I thought it was given that it's just a torturous video you have to watch when you die since all that happens afterwards is I'm respawned right back in the same area that's already loaded.
SugarDaddy @ Sep 12th 2008 10:04AM
Well Dyack said it could have been a boring loading screen or a [boring] video of the Valkyrie. So maybe he was lying. I don't know.

@D Dogg
Lulz all they were doing was expressing there opinion on a game that has MANY faults and was hyped as a great game for your console
Dale @ Sep 12th 2008 12:35PM
I don't understand what there is to load - as has been said, you are respawned straight back where you died for the most part... all of that is in memory, they just have to reset your health bar and lop some points off your equipment.
I suppose I should relax now I've traded this game in for the infinitely superior Tales Of Vesperia, but it makes my blood boil.
jon zero one @ Sep 12th 2008 9:21AM
did i miss something when i played this game? i really didnt like it. NHL 09 will take up all my time now anyway.
psychohog @ Sep 12th 2008 9:30AM
I must have missed something too. I tried to like it but I thought it was terrible.
D dogg @ Sep 12th 2008 3:20PM
Comments like the both of you annoy the absolute piss out of me... SCREW BEING POLITICALLY CORRECT to save your feelings.
WHO THE F**K CARES YOU DIDN'T LIKE IT! Seriously, are either of YOU the benchmark for gaming?? Is it because you're a 20 something male and you SHOULD be the target demo that you feel YOU represent the entire demo??
Get off your high horse. And for the record, I do NOT like sports games. I'd rather play Bomberman Act Zero than play Madden or NHL... I DON'T LIKE SPORTS GAMES YET I'M IN THE DEMO... soo, ALL sports games aren't worth it.
Shallow assholes are what you are.
Neuromancer @ Sep 12th 2008 10:18AM
Mr. Ddogg, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
iFester @ Sep 12th 2008 11:32AM
Hey, wasn't that a quote from Old School?

@ Neuromancer:
Oh god, ANOTHER dipshit on his high horse. Self-proclaimed righteous assholes such as yourself deserve nothing less than a good crotch punch or drop-kick.
It was SO incoherent because you obviously had some text-to-speech reader if you heard it from this blog and didn't read it.
You rankeded my writings up there with drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana ("Everyone in this room is now dumber...")... and then you try to pawn it off as "bad".
Tool...
Oh, by the way, don't assume everyone is using a text-to-speech converter like yourself either dipshit ("Everyone in this room is now dumber for having LISTENED to it")
Vozroth @ Sep 12th 2008 10:05AM
Great news. Love the game.Still playing the hell out of it and can't wait for the follow ups.
themizarkshow @ Sep 12th 2008 10:33AM
I played the whole demo through (almost a whole hour is quite nice for a demo) but I have to say that I'm holding out hope for a patch that lets you skip the Valkyrie scene and maybe make the targeting actually work and the melee-attacks more fluid... or at least precise.
I'm afraid it won't happen though. Maybe my wait will at least get me a price drop...
jon zero one @ Sep 12th 2008 11:02AM
yeah that made no sense d dogg. isnt this what comments are for, giving your opinion about something?
Edog @ Sep 12th 2008 11:18AM
Some well deserved respect for Too Human. It needed it with all the bad press and it being a niche (IMHO) game. This game is not for everyone. Some people don't get it. It's an action/RPG like Jade Empire or Mass Effect.
It has many flaws but I've been playing the heck out of it since release. 2 player online is fun as hell, when the other person knows his/her roll and plays to their characters strengths. Let's hope the drop-off won't be to bad. 33,053 2nd week so far.

This game franchise has so much future potential. If SK polishes Too Human 2 & 3 up, it will go down as one of this generations classics. Mark my words.
Dirty @ Sep 12th 2008 11:20AM
Game is awesome, I am currently trying to get epic armors for my Champ and Bezerker. Wish more people I know liked it so I had more people to play with.
Oh well you cant please everyone.

Am I the only way that can tell this is a Xav post just by how "mean" it reads?
AnthonyGalindoX @ Sep 12th 2008 3:22PM
I hope we do get the sequels. As much as I'm enjoying the game there is still a lot of room for improvement.
Edog @ Sep 12th 2008 3:57PM
Solution for Valkyrie death animation.
From what I understand, the death animation was a design choice not a loading necessity. I agree with Mr. Dyack's thinking but not his choice. Death without any repercussion is an empty penalty and lessens the gaming experience, because there is no fear for not playing the way game was designed. Gamers would just rush into battle, all gun-ho, die quickly, reset quickly, rush into battle again until they clear the screen. No tactics, no planing, no true gaming experience. But having said this the death scene is agonizing, especially if you die a lot. The solution to this would be a choice of letting the animation go its course or skipping it with a 2X, 3X, or an increasing penalty of damage. This would encourage proper play because your amour would crap out quicker and you would die even more.
Wow. I think I just wrote a metaphor for life...I need a beer.

I guess once again we get to see how little the internet hateraid actually matters to the real world of people who play games just to have fun.
