Halo 3 title update is live! New achievements and a new ranking system

Just in case you're totally out of the Halo 3 loop, earlier this morning Bungie, unleashed the game's second title update and with it comes new playlists, a new ranking system and ten new achievements. You can learn more about the playlist changes, how the ranking system works, the changes on Bungie.net and view a general title update Q&A over at Bungie HQ.

But what about the 20 other "Mythic" achievements and their 500 Gamerscore that were discovered last night? Well, we still don't know exactly what they're all about, but team Bungie has acknowledged their existence. In their latest blog post, Bungie makes note that the other "Mythic" achievements are viewable but says that "we're not ready to comment on any other achievements right now" and that "all will become clear in due time."

So, exercise your patience skills for the time being and, while you wait, start unlocking Halo 3's additional 250 Gamerscore. We hear there's a special treat for those who go after the Vidmaster Challenge achievements.

This update was a complete let-down. I guess it was stupid to expect campaign levels in a title update, but wow, who seriously gives a rat crap about this update's features?

Oh boy, no more force fields in Snowbound! What a huge difference in the game. Not.

I bet there will be an armor perm if you complete the vidmaster challenges. I have the update downloaded, I just haven't played yet. Can't wait to get to work on these achievements.

I was really confused about the "everyone in ghosts" but i just read this from an IGN message board...

"On the last level, after you kill guilty spark when you are walking outside go left and there are four ghosts under the ramp. I myself have completed it on a ghost and it's extremely hard at some points but fairly easy overall. I'm glad it's worth 0G because that level is too time consuming to coordinate a 4 player run on ghosts. "

Shit, complete shit. The patch did nothing, new achievements, whoohoo, more shit for people to waste life on. I would have payed 1600 points for a better patch then this. Fix the nades, fix the AR, fix EVERYTHING! Broken.

I know Bungie has every right to withhold information from the gaming community, but seriously. After the crap at E3 and then the disappointment at PAX, did we even find out FOR SURE what the canceled announcement was? I feel like we may have read it on X3F but I don't remember if Bungie specifically said "this was the canceled announcement."

Even if we know what information there is, what reason would they have for withholding it? Are they going to lose money for disclosing it earlier? Are they worried someone else might copy them? What is the deal??

wtf they removed rocket race? all you people that think it sucks, suck because you dont understand the point of the game. when you get a good group of people that know what they are doing in rocket race, its really fun.... im sad to hear it will not be available anymore
