Pardon Bungie's Dust, Superintendent strikes again

In a new encoded post on the official Bungie site a string of text teases what many anticipate was Bungie's canceled E3 reveal. Playing out like a snippet of a Hollywood script, the string of text details a conversation between a Captain - Codenamed: DARE.V.500341(S1) - following up on a squad request to an Admiral - Codenamed: SMN.ACTUAL - calling the shots from a location currently under siege.

At the time of this writing speculation continues to run wild within the Bungie Forums. Popular theories point to new campaign levels, a map pack retail disc with a new cinematic (as seen in Halo 2's map pack) or an entirely new title within the Halo Universe, specifically due to references of the MAC weapon. Some of the more interesting tidbits could easily be gleaned from scanning the string of text (available after the break). The primary, DARE, is given a code number which ends in S1 leading some to believe the string of text occurs prior to Covenant attacks during the SPARTAN-1 era (yr.2491) -- way before John-117 joins the program in 2517.

Which theory gets us excited? The mention of squads could point to a pre-Halo era tactical shooter in the original SPARTAN phase that led to the creation of Master Chief. Wild thinking and speculation but we can't wait to see where this one is going.

Im really really hoping its the rumored GRAW-like ODST squad game. I loved the first 2 GRAWs and a new take on the halo universe that isnt a book or comic is a welcome addition and a must buy for me

I was talking to one of my friends that works up in electronics at Wal-Mart, just last night. He told me that there is going to be a third-person Halo coming, and said that a Microsoft rep has explained this.

He might be lying, but at least it's something.

So a Microsoft rep explained that to a low level Wal-Mart employee making less than $9/hr. ? Not ragging you, just saying.....

I work at Wal-Mart as an overnight stocker and i make well over 9.00/hr. And this information isnt entirely suspect, first of all its unlikely that a MS rep spoke to this person or the store at all, but there is an information section on in-store computers called "the wire". He most likely got that from here as there would be an upcoming product type with some info (i.e. Halo "" 3rd person shooter, xbox 360)

S1 is a military position at the battalion level and up. They are administrative positions relating to personnel. This would explain the, "...S1 types ever left your cave." There is S1-S9 depending on the unit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S1_(military)

Am I the only person so far to think "Halo Wars" when I think "Squad"??? You can select multiple squads using the in game interface...

I'd like to think there's more to it, I know we're all anxious for Mythic... but let's not be so quick to overlook the obvious. Bungie has to hype all of their games, you know. ;)

Here's hoping "Mythic" is some kind of prequel, rather than just mooooooore multiplayer maps.
