Force Unleashed unleashes 1.5 million copies

For all the controversy, mixed reviews and internal firings, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is a sales success! According to Lucas Arts, Force Unleashed moved 1.5 million units worldwide in its first week of sales, making it the fastest selling Star Wars game ever. EVER! Though, one has to be sure to note that the 1.5 million number takes into account the game's sales on all platforms. We guess a decent demo can help a game's sales after all.

I'm still on the wall about that game. I've played it some and got bored after the first level or so. I guess you just have to be a star wars fan. I never was too crazy about it but thought the trailers and demo was cool.

What I hear from most people is that it gets old fast, it's short, and there's pretty much no replay value. The *only* plus side to the game is the story. This is a solid rental but not anywhere close to a $60 purchase, I have a feeling sales will start to drop dramatically.

I think you mean on the fence there, spidey.

Too bad high sales @ Lucasarts doesn't necessarily mean a sequel.

doesn't it normally mean canning the team responsible and shelving the series for all time?

I was going to buy this but the store I went to was out. Then I read the reviews, which made me glad I didn't drop $60 on it. I'll either rent it or pick it up used in a month or so for $20.

Wow... 1.5 million idiots out there who fell for it (me included!)

Idiots we are...
It's only fun on easy.. I when through hard first, before apprentice, and the game feels almost broken.. some enemies aren't even animated to aim at you.. others score automatic hits - mostly bosses lightsabre throws where you dodge them completely by 10 metres (30feet?) & it still takes health off you..
The star destroyer part minigame ruined the scene..
I'm currently at the Bull Rancor on Master.. it taking me 20 minutes to get it into the red while the ally gets 'magical' hits before I can get it down enough the QTE section..
Maybe this is a case of Blacksite 51.. because it feels so unfinished..

I don't know if I can agree with that. I've just about beat it, and I am highly considering going through on higher difficulties. I dunno, may that's the cheevo whore in me. Still, I have rather enjoyed it. Except the star destroyer part. Worst. boss. fight. evar!
Tumr @ Sep 24th 2008 3:31PM
Its a fun game but yeah rental only, you can beat it in a few hours if you just want to beat the game or take a weekend to actually look for the hidden stuff but other than that, there is no replay value. Wish it had multiplayer then it would be much better. So yeah I bought it but I am planning on trading it in soon, very soon.

I think its selling well because there hasn't been any decent games in ages.
I was tempted to buy it my self, but decided not to. not long till the big guns come out! (gears,fable,farcry....)
NvM @ Sep 24th 2008 5:44PM
I rented, had an alright time, beat it, and returned it.
Overall I'm pleased, good story.
JonyBoyHache @ Sep 24th 2008 5:38PM
Atleast it comes for free w/ Gears Of War for every 360 bought at Future Shop...

You naysayers and reviewers say what you want but the sales are proof of that this game is great, I loved it and will play through it again. My Son loved it as well. Goes to prove just how wrong reviewers across the board have been about the game. The demo was good the game was great.
Kabapu @ Sep 25th 2008 12:20PM
... 1.5 million across 8 ... count 'em, 8 platforms. That really isn't saying much.
