RumorDestroya: Xbox 360 Slim spotted? Sorry, no
It feels like someone left the sink on in X3F's virtual house because our mailbox is completely flooded with news tips that claim to have spotted a slim version of the Xbox 360 in the wild.
Here's the story: while snapping photos for a gallery of the Microsoft Arc Mouse, blogger Paul Thurrott caught a pair of Xbox 360's in the background of one -- now infamous -- image. At first glance one Xbox 360 console (on the left) seemed suspiciously smaller than the other and many believed this was a slim version of the Xbox. Since the first shots and reports on the possiblePure slim Xbox, Thurrott has confirmed the image was only from a funny angle. To prove his point Thurrott posted a new post on his blog which included a ton of images disproving the rumor.
Could it happen? Sure. Is this it? Naw, son!

What the hell? Are people THAT stupid? It looks like a regular 360 arcade unit. People is ig'nint.

I thought the arcade had a white DVD drive door? It could just be a core from launch. Or I could be wrong.

Seems like the size and placement of the HDD would somewhat preclude the introduction of a slim 360. At best they could offset it but then it would look a bit wonky with the HDD sticking up on one side. Unless they put the HDD jack on the top, which they could do I suppose.

I think the 360 is a fine size as is, it's the PS3 that needs to slim down and stop trying to be a George Foreman Grill. If they did I'd buy one in a second (For a Blu-Ray player with upgradeable firmware of course...)

I was wondering what it reminded me of! A george foreman grill! Funny thing is that the xbox is the one that could really cook your meat in a lean kinda way.

haha, Paul Thurrott is awesome.

How douse the HD fit on that???
h0mi @ Sep 25th 2008 5:51PM
The arcade and probably the cores come with a plastic placeholder for the top of the 360 where the HDD would be. It's probably a premium 360 with the HDD removed and that plastic placeholder in place of the hard drive.

Quick! Someone tip off Kotaku!

Conspiracy Thurrott is covering it up.
I agree the angle is playing tricks, but the console is a different shape, and how did he get an HDD cover for the Premium/Pro version, they don't come with one.

Am I the onlyone the see the difference in the pictures dissproving the rumor. The cover has no holes in it just the ones in front of where it clips in. It's smooth like the hard drive next to it.In the new pictures it looks like any other one all holes !
