Xbox.com sports interactive dashboard preview, the NXE
The NXE (New Xbox Experience) is the upcoming Xbox 360 dashboard update, first revealed to gamers at E3 2008. Designed to be usable and intuitive for everyone under your roof regardless of gaming cred, the NXE is a complete revamp of the Xbox 360 dash we know and love. Still on the fence about the new update? Xbox.com now sports an interactive preview of the New Xbox Experience the way it will be presented when it finally launches later this year. Also you should remember that Xbox Live will be down for 24-hours beginning at 12:01AM PT on September 29 to prepare for the service update -- meaning the new dashboard isn't going to be made available just yet.

Looks great
But why on earth would you have the 3d friends list instead of a list like it is now? I think it'll be cluttered and hard to navigate while sorting threw all of those Mii60's.

Be ok for me.. think I number 20 so called friends.. though easily 5 of those are randoms.. don't know where they've seen my tag...
Going to have myself a cull come the new update..

i kinda like the big list of friends, not sure I feel the same way about this but we'll see... the multi-person voice chatting is a huge plus though...that was always a pain for me.

No, no, no, no, NO!
Why is the main screen pretty much exclusive to the new features?! You have to access an entirely new screen just to get into your stored games, videos, etc... They should all be accessible right from the main screen. I should be able to go to my stored games, without having to navigate two menus. One button press should give me the full list.
I mean it's one of the biggest complaints with the current Dashboard, and now it looks to be worse with everything clumped together!
I've been entirely positive about the NXE so far, but this is just stupid. Yes, blades are pretty ugly. Yes, NXE looks sexy as hell. But looks were the least of my worries. Everything is trumped by Accessibility or lack thereof.

I hope netflix makes a stream only plan for the people who get the xbox and could care less about renting dvds.

It's streaming, that's kind of obvious, you wouldn't really need an xbox....
