AC/DC Rock Band expansion exclusively releases to Walmart this holiday
Harmonix and MTV Games just made an announcement this morning regarding the release of a special edition of Rock Band. This "expansion" of sorts will be releasing this holiday EXCLUSIVELY at Walmart stores and it's called AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band Track Pack. So, yes, the rumor was true. This new AC/DC themed edition of Rock Band will include 18 AC/DC songs that were pulled from their "Live at Donington" DVD and will retail for $39 at, again, Walmart stores. The game will ship to North American retailers in November and to our friends in Europe and Australia in November.
Interesting too is the fact that this retail AC/DC Rock Band edition is being called a track pack yet the game's description reads it's a "fully-featured, standalone extension" of Rock Band and Rock Band 2. But the game also comes packaged with a keycode to download the songs straight to your HDD and import the 18 tracks into your current Rock Band setlist. Speaking of setlists, check out the 18 AC/DC tracks that'll be included in the AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band Track Pack after the break. Oh, and uh ... hurray for Walmart?

wow, that is a great selection of songs. I've actually been looking to jump into rock band or GH...this may have just convinced me to commit to RB.
DBoyFlex @ Sep 30th 2008 1:08PM
Does it have 100 pts of cheevos? That might be cool.
Achievement unlocked: Play all 18 songs 1000g
DBoyFlex @ Sep 30th 2008 1:08PM
Sorry, 1000 pts of cheevos
Paul @ Sep 30th 2008 1:25PM
danget man why does it have to be 39 bucks for 18 songs? i wish it was a little cheaper and i would be all over it. i know that 18 songs at 160 ms points would be 36 dollars and the other 3 dollars is i guess costs for the disc, case, manual, etc. mainly, i just wish we were able to dl certain songs that we want.
Paul @ Sep 30th 2008 1:31PM
just to clarify/expand these are the songs i would get:
thunderstruck
back in black
hells bells
t.n.t.
you shook me all night long
dirty deeds done dirt cheap
highway to hell
so i am really only interested in 7 of these songs. come on harmonix i want to give you my money just not 39 dollars worth of it!
Deezul @ Sep 30th 2008 1:41PM
Yeah, I only am interested in about half of them as well. Also, I would have preferred studio recordings, not live recordings.
But what I really want is some Primus...
joeybeast @ Sep 30th 2008 2:00PM
AC/DC only sells CDs, their songs aren't even available for download legally anyways.
jdkay20 @ Sep 30th 2008 1:34PM
Yes. I get to play some AC/DC. This is awesome.
Mr Bunky @ Sep 30th 2008 1:44PM
I can't wait to see how many people lose their voice trying to sing like Brian Johnson.
dunnypop @ Sep 30th 2008 1:52PM
I wonder how this would be different than just straight DLC?
pre-made characters?
Kizzle @ Sep 30th 2008 1:55PM
This sucks for a few reasons -
Overpriced, obviously. Standalone or not, 40 bucks for 18 songs is definitely on the high end for Rock Band tracks (more than the usual 2 bucks per song).
Live versions. I know this album is actually really good quality in both performance and audio, but it's still not the same. Don't want to have Brian Johnson singing on the Bon Scott songs. Give us the studio tracks.
That said, I would think this will be clearanced within a few months. Everyone that wants it is going to buy it right away, I don't see this as something that is going to sell like crazy over the next 12 months.
wade @ Sep 30th 2008 3:30PM
Not to mention that it is being sold only by the spawn of Satan
Levi @ Sep 30th 2008 2:10PM
guess this is one you should avoid buying used. once that key code is used, i get the feeling you'll be screwed
HazyCloud @ Sep 30th 2008 2:13PM
Unless the purchaser doesn't care about switching discs. I'm personally taking the Sam's Club route. They're usually about 5 bucks cheaper on new games.
ice~ @ Sep 30th 2008 2:20PM
Will this release as DLC???
DeadPlasmaCell @ Sep 30th 2008 2:42PM
Probably not. AC/DC isn't a fan of letting people purchase individual tracks. They want you to purchase the whole album.. Thus one of the reasons they're not on iTunes. So I don't see why this would be any different.
HazyCloud @ Sep 30th 2008 2:42PM
Probably not. The disc will be a one time export. Harmonix/EA will release a press release tomorrow. It should answer any questions we have.
ice~ @ Sep 30th 2008 3:14PM
Sigh...looks like I'm gonna have to leave my cave and actually buy this disc thing you speak of :/ Im not a huge fan of it being live but hell I'll take any AC/DC.
honorablesauce @ Sep 30th 2008 2:34PM
Any word if there is a location ...perhaps Donington....
That would be cool.
Helloimbob @ Sep 30th 2008 2:36PM
What about Europe/UK?
Will Asda sell this or something =/ I NEED THOSE SONGS!!!
Or will we just get screwed over again by those EA jackasses?
kyle @ Sep 30th 2008 2:42PM
Woot, looks like great songs. Would this ever release as DLC?
