Update 2: According to Major Nelson's Twitter and various reports from readers, Xbox Live is back online. Again, we'd warn you to expect some rolling restarts as millions of gamers attempt to reconnect. "The storm has passed," Major wrote. "Back to Live you all go." Well, then? Go!
Update 1: Looks like Xbox Live and Xbox.com have gone down again. According to the Xbox.com support page, Microsoft is aware of the issue and is currently working on a solution.

Xbox.com also appears to be having issues as it is not displaying player profiles and is loading pages slowly. Currently, Xbox.com's support page does not list the service is experiencing any issues other than TruSkill and EXP rewarding problems associated with Halo 3. We'll keep you posted as details come in.
Original Update: According to the Xbox Technical Support phone line Xbox Live is experiencing network issues that are keeping some customers from accessing the service. Microsoft is aware of the issue and is currently working on it and recommends users attempt to reconnect in one hour. Don't shoot the messenger.

i finnaly get the thing to work, and halfway through a song on guitar hero, live goes down again. i score 287k on sweet child o mine, my new high, and its not gonna be on the leaderboards. awesome.

holy crap, i thought it was just me! I tried calling the support and their phone line is down. I was definitely freaking out. Thank goodness you guys are here. Here in the bay area, CA I got signed out of xbox live in the middle of a game. sucks!

Me and my friends were an hour and a half into the Halo 3 Vidmaster: Annual acheivement and about 10 minutes away from finishing when Xbox Live went down!

We finished our ghost run about 15 minutes before it went down. Damn good fun...I would do it again to help my other buddies any time.

I went on the xboxwebsite and I signed in and the first thing I noticed is no pic on your gamer pic, and no name, and once I went on it showed my stars, name, and gamer pic and clicked my name to show my friends it said in fine print"This page is unavailable" hope it gets fixed ASAP!!!

Seriously this is Last winter all over again..... Huge update that takes it down all day (even after they state that will never happen again) then it goes back up part of LIVE are hosed then on and off LIVE continues to go up and down. I'll take the NXE as comensation Microsoft thank you very much!
My indication something was not right is that my amount of points shown was "...." instead of the 1700+ I actually have...

I manage web services at a company that does roughly 100 million in sales a year. If our servers go down for even 15 minutes, i'm in deep trouble (Enough trouble to start sending out my resume at that point). I don't understand how these retards can take down Xbox Live for this long and keep their jobs? It just doesn't make any sense...

We better get something outta this, I stayed up last night to get some games in with my buds and I go to connect at like 12:00 exactly and it don'e work and I kept trying until like 12:30 when i saw on X3F.com that it's still down and now this! They should give us Megaman as a free download for a day or something.

I really wish we as the xbox live community were organized to protest the BS, Microsoft has put us through with the outages by not signing onto xbox live for a week or something. MS definitely owes us like 400 points for all our trouble.

This is a little less painful now that the fact that the same day the updates were being done, my 360 froze while watching movies.
And then the day after, while trying to watch something else (seeing as I don't have any non-XBL games to play) I get the quadrant of death!

Why do Xbox owners put up with this crap? XboxLive is costly, unreliable, and it's not like Xbox even has the best games anymore.
Get a PS3 and be done with it, better games, better more reliable and free online, plus all round a far better console.

By not having a PS3, I can list 10 better games that you will ALWAYS miss out on.
As it is, if you have a PC and a PS3, you get everything, if you have a PC and a 360, you miss out on loads of stuff.
