First review gives Dead Space 91%, gushes about 'film-worthy' script

The first Dead Space review has made its way online and, no surprise to us, it got a pretty damn good review.
CVG spotted the first game review over at Xbox World 360 magazine who gave it a 91% and went as far as to say that Resident Evil developer Capcom should take note of Dead Space, "because EA can teach them a thing or three about survival horror." Ouch. The review goes on to gush about the game's film-worthy script, intense horror themes and describes it as "Rapture in space: every bit as disturbing, just as meticulously designed and easily as believable." We think it's safe to say that if more reviews mirror these kinds of impressions, then Dead Space delivered as promised. Our excitement level rises ...

This seems like a bad-ass version of Event Horizon only playable.
Can't wait to get my claws on this one. If they've put as much detail into the entire game as they've supposedly said they have (via developer diaries) then we're ALL in for a treat.
Love the Xbox 360 specific suit.

I am awaiting the arrival of this game with both joy and dread. Joy because I know it's going to rock, and dread because I know it'll be too scary for me to play. Sort of like F.E.A.R. I want to play that game soo bad, but I can't bring myself to play it. The first time I saw that freaking little girl, I pissed my pants and never played it again. Scary movies don't bother me at all, but there's something about a scary game that is way more personal and intimate.

My interest has sparked even further for this game.

I actually haven't been paying much attention to this one but if the reviews keep coming in like that, I will have to check it out.

Do you guys think I should rent this game, or buy it? With so many great games coming out this season, it's hard to choose where to spend my money. I'm already getting GOW 2 and Fable 2 for sure.
My concern is that it doesn't seem like a game I will want to replay a whole bunch, and it's probably short enough to justify a rental (I'm assuming that just because most horror games are pretty short).
What do you guys think?

Looks pretty good.

I have been getting more and more interested in this game. I think my next two purchases are this and Fallout 3.

You know when a director says Guitar Hero would make a good movie I start to wonder if any idiot knows what a "film worthy" script looks like.
AoE @ Oct 2nd 2008 7:10PM
lol, well apparently "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" looked like a film-worthy script... so by extension the reviewer is saying it's at least at the same level of quality as Beverly Hills Chihuahua.
Loban @ Oct 3rd 2008 9:44AM
People who pay quality games know exactly what a good movie script could be. For instance both Half Life 2 and Bioshock would make great movies.
xenocidic @ Oct 2nd 2008 5:15PM
kinda seems like bioshock in space
Boff @ Oct 3rd 2008 5:09AM
I just want to try it out for myself now.

"Rapture in space"? Sweet. I loved BioShock.
plmko @ Dec 10th 2008 3:18AM
It annoys me when people compare bioshock to this, PEOPLE THIS IS NOT INSPIRED BY BIOSHOCK this is a spiritual squeal to system shock so therefore.
So if anything Bioshock is simply system shock but underwater.
