This is a pretty interesting week for Xbox Live Arcade. One one side of things, we have Mega Man 9, a brand new game in the series done in a retro style. On the other, we have War World, which the developers originally announced was scheduled to arrive last August. And yet, even a year from its missed debut, it's still one of the best looking XBLA games out there. So which is worth the dough, tough-as-nails platforming or online twitch multiplayer? Check out the latest installment of XBLA in Brief to find out.

Richard, your review style is really good. Though, can't you buy the games so we can see beyond the trial areas? (Which we've seen for ourselves on XBL?) Thx.
I think maybe people miss the point of this feature. The point is Richard plays the free trial and gives his opinion on whether or not it is worth continuing.
Also, as he's mentioned on the podcast, making these takes a long time, so he can't buy the game as its released for the video. He gets the trial, makes the feature, and if he likes it himself he will have bought it, which he says sometimes.
I appreciate the clarifications on what this feature is for. It's a nice thing for those who haven't dl'd the game themselves, I guess. Not must-see for me.
And for the guy below who jumped down my throat, get outta there. I gotta eat soon.
Even though it sucks that he has to review a free trial, are you going to be the one paying $10-20 a week so he can get the full version of every XBLA game that releases?
Mega Man looks great! Brings me back to playing it on the NES and throwing the controller because I died again on some stupid jump that I just couldn't make! Your point about the controls is a good one, I might have to get this one on the Wii.
Yeah, I agree with the point on the controls. They seem just a little bit...odd. It's hard to place but something doesn't feel right. That could be attributed to using the joystick rather than the D-Pad (360's D-pad is awful, making the joystick the better choice IMO). In the end, this is perfect for people like me who grew up playing Mega Man on the NES...it looks and sounds just like you'd expect, classic all the way around.
I was so angry when (after many, many attempts) I got to Concrete Man and the game wouldn't let me fight him. And especially when I bought the game at the point it cut me off and I still had to start the level again.

It isn't meant as a review of the game.

Be glad he manages to do so much with so little.

So War World is out and now I have no vested interest in it...why did it take so long :(

Oh man, thanks for pointing that out. I was going to try to get to him a 2nd time before I bought it. Now I'll just buy it before I try lol.
