Reminder: Unlock Halo 3's 7 on 7 achievement

Friendly reminder to all Halo 3 fanboys who are on a mission to unlock all the new achievements, today is the first chance you have to earn Halo 3's "Vidmaster Challenge: 7 on 7" achievement.

To unlock this 0 Gamerscore achievement, you have to enter a matchmaking playlist with exactly 7EXP on the 7th of the month. Seeing that today is October 7th (your next chance will be November 7th), all you have to do is make sure you have 7EXP in any Halo 3 playlist. It's that simple. And for those of you who have earned over 7EXP on all the playlists, Bungie setup a special one day only 7 on the 7th matchmaking playlist called "Icy Treats". Here, you'll start out with 0EXP and play in Cold Storage until you win seven games and earn your 7EXP. Happy unlocking!

Not so fast. There is also a Vidmaster Challenge for the Mythic maps. "Find all the hidden skulls on the Mythic maps."

just throwing out a wild guess, but since luke and shishka are at TGS, and some of the new halo 3 achievements have to do with zombies and its the month of october, i have a feeling we might be getting some achievements at the end of the month.

Not to burst your bubble, but most of the new achievements, including the Zombie ones, have to do with the Mythic Map Pack that wont be released for a few months. At least till after Gears 2 comes out for sure.

I played social slayer last night until I got to 7exp (beacuse I'm 21 in DLC FFA)

Bungie said there'd be "something special" (or something like that) for those that get these achievements, so it may be worth going after. If you do the icy route it'd just be like regularly playing the game anyway!

The achievement isn't for points it is for the 'special gift' promised by Bungie.
That gift might be worth it to some people and others will react the same as in this thread "so what?"

I'm glad this is for zero points, otherwise I'd be pissed. I think some game makers are making their achievements far too dependent on other factors, including multiplayer conditions.

Only on the seventh day of the month?

So you need to get 7exp points on a playlist? Is it total for one playlist or you need to earn 7exp in one day? And is in exp points or the skill level thing? I'm confused, they need to make this clearer.

All I had to do was turn on my xbox and click on Matchmaking and "bleep bloop" I got it. Didn't even realizes it was the 7th.

Well... my problem is... i'm still not getting any exp from wining games... and apperently Bungie fixed the exp problem... so wtf?! How is everyone else getting exp and i'm not?! And no i was not banned from anything for any reason.

You have to be the top 50% of the match, so even if your team wins, you still have be in the top 50% scoring wise. so if you are like me, you may win the match but your team and the losing team may have a few players that scored better than you, so you don't rank up or your exp won't go up.

My theory on the vidmaster challenges:
In the middle of October, you'll have to option to load your Halo 3 videos to your computer through the website. The problem is, you need a Bungie Pro account. I have a feeling that if you have all three achievements, you can have this feature without Bungie Pro.

This all may be hopeful thinking though.

I am not getting any exp points either. more importantly, i got the Officer medal, but no Officer achievement because Bungie reset all exp points just before I scored 70 exp points. Now I'm supposed to score it in a single playlist. No thanks Bungie. You suck!
I happily sold my copy of Halo yesterday. I'm done with Bungie.

1.iluvuripinion is wrong and right, Bungie didn't reset any EXP however you DO have to get it in one playlist now so if he had 69 EXP OVERALL he wouldnt get it but if he had it in BTB for example he would

I think X3F wrote this wrong or have it miscontrued because you cant just enter any playlist with 7 EXP and get it it HAS to be on Cold Storage "Icy Treats" playlist which is another reason some of you may not have gotten it. I dont play Lone Wolves really so therefore I only was a 7 so I went in yesterday and completed a game and nothing so I did the Cold Storage map and got it but still X3F kinda dicked you guys over if you tried it on a diff. playlist, here's bungie's statement:

To ensure that people that have been playing the game since TU2 have an opportunity at the Seven on the Seventh achievement, we will be bringing back Icy Treats, available this time for single EXP. Icy Treats is a playlist that focuses entirely on Cold Storage, so you will need to download the map from Marketplace if you wish to participate. Win seven times then enter the playlist once more to get your achievement!
