Talisman quietly canceled
While we must admit we've never played the Talisman board game, we are sad to announce that Capcom has canceled the Xbox Live Arcade version of the game. Strange as it may seem, the cancellation was announced not in any official capacity, but in a forum post nearly two months ago. Capcom's Christian Svensson broke the news to an inquitive forum goer, stating that there was a "misfire" at the beginning of development and Capcom had decided not to switch developers because "the costs of moving forward outweighted the potential revenue."
Any hope of the project being resurrected rests with Games Workshop, which once again owns the rights to Talisman.

sadly, this was my most anticipated xbla title. I looked for info a few months back and couldn't find anything on capcoms stie. I don't see how a board game couldn't be cheap to develop since the gameplay is mostly dicerolls and the graphics don't need to be crazy. In fact I don't know why there aren't more board/card games for xbla. Catan, Uno, Carcassone all did pretty well didn't they? And none of them seem like they took much money to make.

You're missing out Richard, Talisman is great fun!
This totally sucks, I was really looking forward to this since I picked up a limited edition Talisman re-print last year at GenCon.

For those who never played the rpg-style boardgame. You played a character and move around the board fighting creatures getting treasure and all the usual fare, until eventually you can get the crown of power and kill off the other players.

I remember playing this game at a friend's place like in the early 90s! It was really fun, and I think he had some expansion sets for it, like Space and something else. Ah the good times.
Too bad it's been canceled. I didn't even know it was being made!!!!! bummer

Same here. I had a friend who was into board games in the early 90s and we played this a few times. I recall it being pretty fun. I think he also introduced me to Carcassonne, which I have yet to download on XBLA.

I remember this, but never played it..
had one game with a circular maze that changed every few turns, with an ogre at the center..
Dungeons & Dragons from TSR.. A1 size playing board with plastic (& Metal in my box) heroes, but cardboard pop ups for monsters(!?)..
And strangely, the dreadnought expansion pack for Space Crusade (never had the full game..)...
So maybe someone can make Space Crusade XBLA (exclusive too), played how it's supposed to, with the 4 board sections with/without the corridors, set up differently each new game, with randomised dice rolls (not the rigged dice I've seen on some games).. and release the expansions later..
