I wonder if I'll be able to use my avatar as my Facebook picture.
Maverick Saturn @ Oct 21st 2008 1:05PM
Don't see why not, Micro owns some shares over there, don't why they wouldn't discuss it, but then I also don't see the point :S Whats wrong with your regular pic, lol
Deezul @ Oct 21st 2008 2:02PM
I made my RB2 avatar my Facebook avatar. It's as close as RB will let you get, and I have the clothing items I'm "wearing."
DBoyFlex @ Nov 15th 2008 7:30PM
Yes you can. There is an app called xbox 360 live gamercard and you can use it to get your current avatar, and it saves it in a separate avatar folder, so each avatar you make you can save there. You can then easily set it as your profile picture.
Eric @ Nov 20th 2008 2:09PM
http://avatar.xboxlive.com/avatar/GAMERTAG/avatar-body.png replace gamertag with your own. It works in firefox since thats what i did it in and i already have mine as my myspace pic...nerdy but o well
grigdog @ Oct 21st 2008 12:50PM
Major Nelson too

Fallen Heero @ Oct 21st 2008 1:15PM
Major Nelson's looks nothing like him, It needs more grey hair...
The actual thing is actually interesting and i guess its a way to show off your avatar and probably use it in a lot more places. I think they'll definately link it to live messenger as well. Persanally i dont care that much about them. I'll probably quickly create one and leave it for a while.
rTwelve @ Oct 21st 2008 12:58PM
I'm guessing this is how the developer of the 1337pwn iPhone app is getting his avatar images (which has been since last week)
URPREY @ Oct 21st 2008 1:04PM
e has one as well:

yolarrydabomb @ Oct 21st 2008 1:14PM
hmm I though e never have the NXE
Studley @ Oct 21st 2008 1:08PM
Actually, I quite like opening those in Firefox - it's like looking into a person's soul.
DBoyFlex @ Oct 21st 2008 3:06PM
Actually, if you have the IE emulator add on, it will work in firefox. Take that MS.
guidedbyvoip @ Oct 21st 2008 10:20PM
Not if you do, ya know...Mac.
ZenMN @ Oct 22nd 2008 6:43PM
Dudes, just right click and "save link as"

Trixie's avatar is cuter than she is, and it's a cartoon character.
trixie360 @ Oct 21st 2008 2:07PM
thanks dude. I bet you look like Brad Pitt!! :)
Deezul @ Oct 21st 2008 2:06PM
Not to be a hater, but at least Trixie properly showed her weight. Natalie Sousa is not as "skinny" as her avatar shows her.
B @ Oct 22nd 2008 12:53PM
Hahahaha
Please say that was a troll
Banzaiaap @ Oct 21st 2008 1:46PM
Heh, it doesn't work in Google Chrome either.
Extant @ Oct 21st 2008 1:51PM
Yeah, it looks like they aren't sending the mime-type to the browser, so it tries to open the file as text. But, if you save the page as a png, you can open it from your computer.
TheBard @ Oct 21st 2008 2:00PM
Boris Schneider-Johne, Xbox Big Boss Germany, has one, too: http://avatar.xboxlive.com/avatar/kugelblitz/avatar-body.png
Richard Mitchell @ Oct 21st 2008 2:18PM
BORIS!
I heart Boris.
ZaaM IT @ Oct 21st 2008 2:00PM
stepto :)
http://avatar.xboxlive.com/avatar/stepto/avatar-body.png
maddox @ Oct 21st 2008 2:02PM
They ARE sending the mime type, but its wrong. Cause MS can't do anything right or standard it seems:
Content-Type: text/html
Deezul @ Oct 21st 2008 2:05PM
Within hours of the NXE update going live; we'll see weblog icons changed, I'm sure. I'll be updating mine. Bye Buzz!
Rufus @ Oct 21st 2008 2:51PM
It doesn't work in Firefox, or Safari? Well I guess I won't be checking them much...
I don't think exclusivity to crappy IE is anyway to help propagate the general fanbase, especially when a good majority of us are tech-savvy and know FF or even Safari are far superior.
Massimo @ Oct 22nd 2008 4:01AM
Firefox & Safari do not save the png's properly because the server sends the data as HTML. Could be a wrong server setup...
B @ Oct 22nd 2008 12:53PM
Right Click -> Save link as...
or
IE Tab extension for Firefox
bitchain @ Oct 21st 2008 2:56PM
oh, oh, oh ... that's neat, me like.
Lee @ Oct 21st 2008 2:57PM
wait, they made something that DOESN'T work in firefox or safari?!
isn't it usually the other way around?
Ghen @ Oct 22nd 2008 4:23PM
Microsoft routinely breaks other browsers because they insist on only using active-x and only testing stuff like this on IE before release.
Most every website in the world that isn't microsoft works better in Firefox and probably safari as well.
OptimumEDGE @ Oct 21st 2008 3:07PM
Guys the website isn't even up and you're complaining about it not working properly? Seriously?
This is pretty awesome. It'll be cool to have access to your avatar image for use elsewhere on the web, sweet stuff. The Xbox Team really is thinking of everything.
Also if anyone is really curious, just save the jumbled up text (binary shizzle) as a ".PNG" and the image will show up for your viewing pleasure.
Edge @ Oct 21st 2008 3:14PM
I'm calling it right here. MS just got a HUGE boost to visibility thanks to these Avatars. They will be on everyone's blog and forum since Microsoft was smart enough to put them on the web. That's something Nintendo doesn't do, as far as I know.
Sopharus @ Oct 21st 2008 3:50PM
So...dumb question. Judging by the little gamer icon sized pics up there; when NXE comes out, do I lose my gamer icon?
Khaled @ Oct 21st 2008 7:44PM
Oh yeah! That's so unique!!
alexander @ Oct 21st 2008 9:02PM
ugh.. no safari or firefox???
I am not downloading IE on my mac..
quickshade @ Oct 21st 2008 9:15PM
coding error, most likely they build on IE platform and then debug it on the others also. So they still must be bringing this feature online, and then go back and make it work on other browsers.
Larry @ Oct 22nd 2008 11:23AM
If you have Firefox you should install the IE Tab plugin. It makes IE only sites a breeze to navigate.
programad @ Oct 23rd 2008 2:53PM
Check this out, guys. An avatar checker:
http://www.programad.com.br/gera/?idioma=ingles&gera=geraavatar
Tester @ Oct 23rd 2008 2:54PM
The MIME type issue has been indentified and will be fixed before launch. Calm down.
Parsnipzilla @ Oct 30th 2008 4:44AM
It's working on my version of Firefox- 3.1b....
here's Richard Mitchell! http://avatar.xboxlive.com/avatar/SenseiRAM/avatar-body.png
mike @ Nov 4th 2008 6:37PM
the girl reminds me of helena bonham carter
Tlaloc @ Dec 18th 2008 8:26PM
It works perfectly in Firefox 3.0 for the Mac. Sorry, but there you are. And Safari. So there. Windows? I'm surprised anything works. Ever.
