1600 MS points FREE with Gears of War 2 purchase at Circuit City

Thanks to X3F tipster therza2169, we've been graced with next week's Circuit City retail flyer (November 2nd - November 8th) and within' its digital pages is a very special Gears of War 2 offer. Buy Gears 2 and get 1600 Microsoft points FREE!
The free 1600 Microsoft deal goes into effect on Gears 2's release (Friday, November 7th) and is available with both regular and limited editions. Interesting too is the fact that you can score a free $10 gift card with a Gears 2 pre-order, so there's a possibility you could pre-order the game at Circuit City now and receive both the gift card and Microsoft points for free. Though, we aren't certain about the logistics of such a method, so we'll say YMMV. Now we must decide, a free Gears 2 Centaur RC tank at Best Buy or free Microsoft points at Circuit City. Decisions, decisions.
[Thanks, therza2169]

decisions, decisions! I've heard that you get a $15 gift card with purchase at Toys R Us, but I might have to bite on the CC deal instead.
Kevin PSN: Keviseg15 @ Oct 28th 2008 2:25PM
oh man im getting it there
OptimumEDGE @ Oct 28th 2008 2:26PM
Looks like I know where I'll be picking up my copy of GOW2. ;)
Nice find!
Considering that 1600 ms points retails at around $20, this is a pretty slick deal.
todd @ Oct 28th 2008 2:32PM
Figured someone would have a deal... was going to just wait till after release but this might be too good to pass up.
yolarrydabomb @ Oct 28th 2008 2:36PM
me cant wait
GOW2 and NXE best thanksgiving ever.
ScottishPrik @ Oct 28th 2008 2:41PM
Excamondo! Anywhere's better than Gamestop.
Ryan Hartman @ Oct 28th 2008 2:43PM
Are they both doing midnight releases, Circuit City and Best Buy? And do they come with gold plated in-game weapons codes like Gamestop is getting?
I mean I'd consider the RC truck thing if Best Buy is going to be open at midnight. God knows I hate supporting Gamestop.
CarpeD1em500 @ Oct 28th 2008 2:49PM
If only these stores had midnight launches.
And yes, I am that fucking impatient. Sorry. I need my gears!!!
xFenixKnightx @ Oct 28th 2008 2:59PM
Hey, its okay everyone here understands. Your amongst Gearheards here. :)
RobLoblaw @ Oct 28th 2008 2:49PM
Son of a bitch. I just pre-ordered at Best Buy last week to get that truck. Now I don't know if I should cancel and pre-order it at circuit city.
xFenixKnightx @ Oct 28th 2008 2:53PM
NO midnight launch at my local CC means no go for me. DAMNIT! I want those points!
Andrew @ Oct 28th 2008 2:55PM
My suggestion to you would be to wait until morning and then go get the game.
xFenixKnightx @ Oct 28th 2008 3:01PM
But I'm having a Gears 2 all-nighter with beer that night.
I HAVE TO FULFILL MY DESTINY!!!
JR @ Oct 29th 2008 10:26AM
Just buy it at your midnight release store, then go pick it up from CC later on and return the un-opened CC copy to your midnight release store for your full refund....problem solved
Rick @ Oct 28th 2008 2:57PM
Tempting, but I'm just going to head over to Target and pick up the game at 8am (I'll be out of town with my gf who is taking a dental class that weekend, but near a mall and there's a 42 inch plasma in the hotel room), instead of waiting in line at CC or BB at 10am. I'll be through chapter 1 by the time anyone waiting for that gift card gets home.
I did the same thing when RB 2 came out. Drove past BB on my way to Target and saw the line forming already and laughed. I walked into Target, picked up the game and went home to play.
West @ Oct 28th 2008 4:16PM
I agree, Target's usually pretty good...There's been a few times when I went with a friend to BB to pick up a game, and in some way or another BB screwed us over. So we just walked down to Target.
Plus, their sales people don't hassle you over and over.

Anyone know how long GOW2 will be? I was a bit disappointed in how short GOW1 was, so I want to be sure its worth it.
Octantis @ Oct 28th 2008 3:10PM
Not sure on the length. I heard there is a lot more story though.
Ryan Hartman @ Oct 28th 2008 3:18PM
I've heard that it's noticably longer (that's what she said) and with much more varied missions (that's what ... she ... said?).
Not as much repetition in this one, which will be sweet. I like when they shake up the levels and do new things.
Gamertag: GOPAL892005 @ Oct 28th 2008 3:51PM
i finished it in around 8hrs spread across 2 days - the story is top notch & presented v.well - just dont get your hopes up on a great ending.
Remember, these are the ppl that brought you UT3, & they really dont seem to know how to end a game.
nomadic0ne @ Oct 28th 2008 3:14PM
Drat. In order to pre-order from CC and get the $10, you have to have it shipped. (it says it's not available for instore pickup)
If you have it shipped, you won't get the 1600MS Points.
Ah well. Points win for me! :-)
Gatto27 @ Oct 28th 2008 3:36PM
What happens if you pre-order, get your 1600 MS points, then cash in your pre-order? Or will they give you the MS points when the game comes out?

mernmern @ Oct 28th 2008 3:37PM
Any word on the size of the tank?
Levon @ Oct 28th 2008 9:30PM
it's as big as your little toe. just a rumour though...
Deezul @ Oct 28th 2008 3:50PM
Sticking with my Amazon pre-order with life size lancer.
xxTHE D0CT0Rxx @ Oct 28th 2008 4:13PM
I have a G.C. for Best Buy so I will be getting it there. Good thing they price match. I hope they have a midnight lauch because I have to go deer hunting on the 7th. Why doesn't M.S. and Epic thake these things into consideration. Geez!!
JCFG @ Oct 28th 2008 4:27PM
Dude, this is madness. What next? Free handjobs for who pre-orders Gears 3?! Oh well, im going to support this type of promotion.
Levon @ Oct 28th 2008 9:30PM
LOLOLOLOL!!!!
Zeus.:God @ Oct 28th 2008 4:38PM
But you get an RC tank at Best Buy!!! JESUS!!! DECISIONS!!! WHY?!?!?!
Yeah... Gamestop. Don't care about the points unless I can buy the game and return it the next day, and keep the points.
Vcize @ Oct 28th 2008 4:38PM
Toys 'R Us has a $15 gift card as well.
Some good deals out there, too bad I HAVE to have this game at midnight, so I'll have to miss them.
LaughingMan @ Oct 29th 2008 12:09AM
I don't know how it is for the rest of the country, but I live near 2 Circuit Cities and they NEVER have games when the sale ads say they do. I don't even bother looking anymore, I just assume they won't have it. Also, CC is always disorganized and the shelves look kinda bare bones.
RedSonRising @ Oct 28th 2008 5:18PM
hmm. and the gold lancer is available from where? still not sure where to pick up this game.. 1600 pts + a gift card is hard to pass up tho..
LilTmac2003 @ Oct 28th 2008 5:27PM
Or a free EXCLUSIVE theme from GameStop w/ the pre-ordering of Gears 2.
....yeah, Ciruict City it is.
InfraredChimera @ Oct 28th 2008 7:28PM
To tell you guys the truth, I'm just not feeling it with Gears 2. The first one was kinda "take it or leave it" and I also got sucked into the hype that time around. Just remember this is my opinion and i'm not saying it's going to suck, I'm just not as hyped for it this time around.
Give me Left 4 Dead, and then we'll talk.
Sylvanus @ Oct 28th 2008 7:37PM
best news of the day! I was already thinking of getting it at CC because of a gift card I was going to use. Now this puts me over the top!
nubby @ Oct 28th 2008 9:11PM
Hey everyone, I just called my Circuit city and the guy on the phone wasn't entirely sure and he asked around with other employees and they weren't sure as well. He said you CAN preorder in the store, but need to leave a $5 deposit. He says usually you get one or the other, but he said when you preorder to ask the person at the register upfront since they usually know the 'guidelines' for that stuff. If anyone else wants to report any info, please do. I for one will try getting both.
Levon @ Oct 28th 2008 9:31PM
Yes, anyone know if this is possible? $10 GC and 1600 MS points? Something tells me all experiences in life say nothing's that good!
HazyCloud @ Oct 29th 2008 9:47AM
Remember everyone, you can take the ad to any Wal Mart or Best Buy and they will honor it. Don't give CC your business. Let them die on their own.
Bonitis @ Oct 29th 2008 9:57AM
So you have to preorder it instore to get the points, not online? I don't care about a $10 CC card, just want the points. Worth more, plus who's gonna go back to a CC. Can someone confirm how exactly to get the points...it's not too clear in that ad.
@HazyCloud, you're saying if I take the CC ad to Walmart or BB, they will give me a 1600 point card with my GOW2 purchase? I doubt that...
Grim @ Oct 30th 2008 3:13PM
i went to my local cc and heres what the manager said : yes you can preorder it in the store for the $10 gift card . If you dont preorder it then you get the 1600 point card when you buy it on friday. he said you cant get both its either or , your choice . so i'll just stick with the points myself . the BB rc car might be a kewl collectable but i'd rather get more content or some arcade games for free with the free point card .
zaraki669 @ Nov 10th 2008 3:37PM
i love gears og war i can wait to play
