Gears movie not a true prequel, will stay true to video game franchise
In an interview with MTV, Gears of War movie screenwriter Chris Morgan commented on the movie admitting that "it would be a crying shame not to deal with Marcus and Dom" and that it isn't a full-fledged prequel to the video games."There are elements to it that can be considered a prequel, but it's not a prequel as far as I'm concerned" commented Morgan, "I want to see 'Emergence Day.' I want to see this stuff happen." As far as the movie's look and content, we're assured that prominent Locust creatures (including the Berserker) will be included in the script and that the film will use a blend of live-action footage and CGI. According to Morgan, Gears movie director Len Wiseman wants to "make it as realistic as possible." We're cool with that.

He made Die Hard 4 which was alright. Was it as good as the others? Not quite, but it was by no means bad. I liked it better than the second Die Hard at least. And if it covers Emergence Day then doesn't that mean it's a prequel? Haven't they been fighting the Locust for a while already by the time we take control of Marcus in the first game?

@ Carlos
The movie is not going to be from MTV. On IGN, it says that it's coming from New Line and being co-financed by Legendary Pictures. The interview came from MTV.

I haven't seen a good Video Game to Movie... move (lol) I'm sure this one will suck again. Lets hope EWE BOL don't direct this one.
converter @ Oct 30th 2008 7:53PM
*sigh* Video game movies suck, they always have and they most likely always will. But everyone (fanboys/girls), will go see it and they make money or break even (enough to warrant a squeal, DVD or otherwise), just due to the title and hype. Remember how close to the source material they said Silent Hill would be....Hollywood doesn't realize that it's the experience of playing the game AND the story elements that make big titles like Gears so rewarding.
virus0100 @ Oct 30th 2008 9:35PM
instead getting horrible actors and film directors to make yet another crappy game movie, why can't they just CG the whole movie with just the original voice actors? it would make the movie a lot more better. In fact it would make all game movies better or some what. It would just make it believable and true to the story.
Big dizzle @ Oct 31st 2008 2:02AM
hey mortal kombat wasn't that bad the first movie the second was garbage but hey somebody has to do it right one day with video game to movie
Nter @ Oct 31st 2008 12:47PM
MTV movie?
And why are all of the crappy directors doing video game adaptations (with the exception of Bioshock)?
