Do you have any of "those" friends? You know the ones. The ones that
still think that video games are exclusively the domain of kindergartners, and anyone who plays them beyond grade school is a mentally stunted weirdo? If so, we suggest heartily that you show them the
Mirror's Edge demo that just landed on
Marketplace. If they're able to take in the beautiful, visceral visuals and
still walk away unimpressed, we suggest you try again. Only the second time, you should play whilst wearing a smoking jacket and sipping on a glass of cognac, preferably while
sitting in a wingback leather chair. If
that doesn't work ... well, you don't need "those" kinds of friends.

Dammit, I don't even have enough time to play all the free demos coming out lately.
Felipe @ Oct 31st 2008 10:47AM

craig64 @ Oct 31st 2008 10:49AM

robotoid @ Oct 31st 2008 12:01PM
same here! I cannot wait to get home. I've been waiting for this demo for so long.
so many must-have games right now for me and still more to come... I wish I had money, and time.
andreyin @ Oct 31st 2008 11:05AM
Damn I need a HDTV ... Banjo and Mirror's Edge are unreadable on my SD ;_;
(and really ugly, also)
EagleX @ Oct 31st 2008 11:36AM
Same!
I have tried ME yet, but I just couldnt play banjo
craig64 @ Oct 31st 2008 12:10PM
I just got a new TV simply because I was buying Fable 2 and Fallout 3, and I just really wanted to enjoy them how they should be played. It was totally worth all the money I spent! BTW...IMO, you're not missing out by not playing Banjo.
andre silva @ Oct 31st 2008 1:43PM
At first I hated Banjo too .. but after a while it grew on me .. when I noticed it was already 3A.M. and I was trying to get to impossible places on Showdown Town.
BTW, here's a tip, get one of those big wooden boxes, put it in the tray of your car, go up on it, and use the wrench.. voilá, your flying ! You can get anywhere in showdown town like that, but I think no one has figured how to go past those stupid barriers.
Seriously I might get Banjo just so I can explore Showdown Town.. I don't care about the worlds ! XD
sournothardcore @ Oct 31st 2008 11:14AM

If ever Microsoft needed a Xbox frontman, it should be Bruce Campbell.
hi @ Oct 31st 2008 11:35AM
more importantly..
has anyone played the demo?
how is it?
Swede33 @ Oct 31st 2008 11:39AM
Insanely awesome. I wasn't sure about this game, but the demo totally convinced me.
xFenixKnightx @ Oct 31st 2008 11:56AM
I played it a lot last night on PS3. Yeah, I know I couldn't wait for the 360 version lol my bad. But damn is that game gorgeous! AND FUN!
Jay900 @ Oct 31st 2008 12:10PM
i was so-so with this game, now that i have played the demo i need to play the full game. it's very fun witch was surprising to me.
Morgemil @ Oct 31st 2008 12:37PM
Yeah, that demo turned the game from "meh" to "day-1-purchase"
DJcube @ Oct 31st 2008 12:41PM
The Time Trial mode is very, very addictive.
dicknjane @ Oct 31st 2008 3:11PM
downloadin now. this'll be interesting
Pasha @ Oct 31st 2008 1:26PM
Downloaded it before work, and played for about 10 minutes. The controls took a few minutes to get used to (it's odd to jump with a bumper) but they work well.
The graphics are awesome, no greyish-brown colors in sight, and once you get run going, it's a great feeling of speed.
Can't wait for the game.
ryan @ Oct 31st 2008 1:42PM
The bumpers are too tiny compared to the PS3 L1 and R1. But the triggers are much better for the 360.
It's an awkward tradeoff for both controllers.
imacjenn @ Oct 31st 2008 1:01PM
Has anyone played the 360 AND the PS3 version? Are there any noticeable differences? I'm stumped on which to buy. I lean towards the 360 for most things, but it would be nice to have some more games for the PS3 so when my xBox RRoD's again, I have something to play while it's away...
Devin @ Oct 31st 2008 1:06PM
Remember where you are posting this question.....the game's lead development console was the PS3. Whether or not this differentiates the game from the 360 idk. You should probably read multiple reviews to answer your question....
evilfoxhound @ Oct 31st 2008 3:07PM
Yup, I've been playing the PS3 versio and 360 version all day.
THe only difference that I see is the jaggies (Mostly outside) seem a little less noticable on the 360. Other than that they are itendical.
Tested in 720p on 42 inch TV using HDMI for both.
imacjenn @ Nov 1st 2008 12:59PM
Hey, fox, thanks for the opinion. I prefer the 360 for almost everything, but I would like to get a bit more use out of the PS3 if possible.
I had looked for reviews, but since the game isn't released yet, I wasn't finding much in the way of comparing the two versions (and I'd like to preorder it, so I wanted to get at least one opinion ahead of time!).
SadisticHam @ Oct 31st 2008 1:05PM
To short, rather retarded that they lock off time trial, it's a demo there trying to sell the game to us not force us to buy it before we try a proper demo. XD
Rather idiotic move if you ask me but i still want this game so I'll let it pass.
superbagman @ Oct 31st 2008 1:12PM
I loved the visuals and the music was fantastic. The demo was REALLY short though. And I don't really like the control scheme. LB to jump just feels weird, I'm sure I'll get used to it, but I don't recall using 'A' at all in the demo and that's the button that seems more natural as jump. Having the same problem in Fallout too, heh, 'Y' is jump but I keep hitting 'A' by mistake.
Ryan @ Oct 31st 2008 1:27PM
I could not agree more. I loved the demo, and I'll be playing this game when it comes out for sure... but LB as the main action button is very awkward. Why not the A button, which is much more natural? Especially with all the running around this game entails.
ryan @ Oct 31st 2008 1:40PM
I had a feeling LB would feel awkward. Since this game was a PS3 developed title, all controls are tailor fit for that controller. So L1 is LB, it is more natural to hit L1, IMHO anyway.
I'm guessing no A for jump because they want you to constantly keep your thumbs on motion and camera look.
goosey @ Oct 31st 2008 1:47PM
Is there any multiplayer in the fullgame, apart from time trials?
drizzlenuts @ Oct 31st 2008 2:44PM
What a awfull idea for a game very corny.Just played the demo.Looks like ea is on drugs publishing the crap.
i wouldnt waste a dollar on this game.
Bill @ Oct 31st 2008 3:32PM
Loved the demo... but... anyone else having crashing issues with the demo? I ran through it once, and now I can't even get past the opening credits. Just freezes. No RRoD, just a freeze.
eddyk @ Oct 31st 2008 6:05PM
I really live this demo ! with This game and DEAD SPACE, EA is really back publishing good games !
Let's hope they will keep it that way !
is this game powered by the Unreal Engine ?
c4v3man @ Oct 31st 2008 7:47PM
New twist on the old platform jumping games... Still feels very fresh, I'm looking forward to playing this game through a couple times.
skfireboy @ Nov 1st 2008 11:53AM
Going into the demo, I was cautiously optimistic. After I played it, I went into my friends list and recommended it to all my friends. Spread the word people, this game is worth your time and money.........as far as the demo tells me anyway
