Video: In-game Avatar use explained

The latest in Gamerscore Blog's running series on the New Xbox Experience is a video about how Avatars can be used in certain Xbox 360 games. First and foremost, the video reveals that certain older Xbox 360 and Xbox Live Arcade titles will inocorporate Avatar use once they are updated after the release of the New Xbox Experience. The games shown include Bomberman Live, UNO, Hardwood Hearts, and Hardwood Spades. And no, you can't play as your Avatar in Bomberman, which is a bummer. Another game that is shown, though not named, is Ninjabee's A Kingdom for Kelflings. Scene It? Box Office Smash will also be receiving an Avatar update.

As for how far we might see Avatars integrated into future titles, Microsoft is keeping the details close to its chest. Whatever the extent of the integration, we somehow doubt you'll ever see your Avatar ripping a Locust in half with a chainsaw.

I hope they come out with an Avatar themed Uno pack in honor of the new Avatars! Free of course... but I'd definitely spend 100-200 on any new Uno pack... that game was a blast back in the day haha

good idea, but i dont want the gamerpic to be completely phased out. i know i can wear a shirt that is the same as the icon and whatever, but i like the icon in addition to the avatar.

I could have sworn they mentioned Uno Rush at E3 that would be 400 msp and that a pack consisting of three themes would go for 1200 msp.

If they're still doing that, I may not have to waste money on it as I was under the impression they were making it specifically to showcase the Avatars.

...So avatars actually doing nothing right, big surprise there, all it seems like is the avatar is replacing the gamerpic.

I'm seriously underwhelmed. Couple that with the "Avatar Store" mentioned on X3F and I'm downright DISGUSTED.

I know it's wrong to see them as Mii's, but.. come on!!

And we only need look at how useful the Mii's have actually been to realise how completely useless this whole Avatar thing will eventually be.

If my avatar can't have a square yellow head, an orange square top and blue square pants, that ain't my avatar! I'll stick with my Pacman gamerpic, thanks...
