Microsoft promises a few surprises in 2009

After confirming plans to stick with its current Xbox 360 pricing, Microsoft UK head Stephen McGill has informed Videogamer that there's a "lot of great stuff" headed to the Xbox 360 in 2009. Secret, surprising stuff."I know a lot of the games coming out from us and our third parties. Most of them, in fact, have not been announced because everyone's very focused on what's out for Christmas" says McGill, admitting that "there's lots of great stuff coming in 2009 that people know about. Lots more, I'm sure that they don't know about." Hmm, lots more we don't know about huh?
True, we're all focused on the jam packed Holiday 2008 game lineup, but we've been keen to remember that 2009 will bring Halo Wars, Halo 3: Recon and even Resident Evil 5. But even more surprises in 2009? Unimaginable! We'll be accepting of these Xbox surprises, but we're not sure our bank account will be as understanding.

Unbelievable...why are you comparing RB2 graphics when the title has NOTHING to do with graphics? Seriously man....you can give a better example than that. Just to be fair: have you ever seen Resistance 2, Uncharted or even Heavy Rain? If so, you would NOT be saying what you just said....

It's just not a good example. I could give a sh*t about RB2's graphics...hell they're just colored buttons coming at me on the screen....seriously give me something more to grab onto here....having played Uncharted & the R2 beta I can safely say (other than for GoW2 or maybe Alan Wake) I do not know of ANY title coming to 360 that will look the same or better than any of them (don't forget about Killzone 2 either). I'm just trying to keep the argument fair here...If I'm wrong please provide some sort of evidence why

I guess what I'm trying to say is it's not fair IMO for Kevin to say that the PS3 does not provide for better graphics when there are actually titles out there that prove that statement wrong.....
The sad part is people, unless they play/see the games for themselves, continue believing the PS3 doesn't live up to expectations which is total BS IMO....

I see you on PS3fanboy so I trust your judge on knowing both sides....
So what makes the HDD's refurbished in the first place other than wiping the code? I really want to know b/c a friend is needing a HDD and if refurbished is not the refurbished I was assuming it was then that's great, but usually to me Refurbished HDD = Stay Away....of course these HDD's are not your normal PC HDD...

I own a ps3. I hardly play it.
on that note, I play the 360, eventhough my disc drive gives me a dirty disc error about 50% of the time. however with loading games off the hdd, this problem is solved.
the PS3 is a decent blu-ray player. When did a game system just become a movie player?
and I use the 360 to play divx since the ps3 doesn't play anything properly.

A decent blu ray player? It's one of the best, if not the best. It loads blu rays almost instantly, where others pale in comparison. But that's just because it's a damn game machine with the CPU power to do so.

if you wanna talk about 360 vs PS3 in terms of media, 360 doesnt hold a candle to the PS3. i own both consoles and if you know what your doing (setting up Nero MediaHome and the PlayOn media servers) you can do everything the 360 can do and more (including NetFlix). now since we are talking about GAME consoles here it is kind of disheartening. i play both consoles about equally (the 360 JRPG line up is great) but i just hate it when people say the 360 is better but have never played a PS3. play both, then make an opinion.
i didnt care for the 360 for a long time, but over time i softened on it and actually love the thing now. both are great consoles in their own rights.

Actually people with Arcades can get a refurbished 20gb hdd for pretty cheap now. Plus there are sites to get good deals on LIVE.

People like you make me laugh. Well done. It's so funny hearing all this garbage talk 'bout adding on stuff to the 360 which 'eventually' evens out the price.

Devin, your an idiot. When you buy a car with all the options, do you buy the car, the speakers, the stereo, the sunroof, the seats, the navigation system all separate?
No, you buy what you want for the cheapest price. If you wanted the HD, why would you buy it separately? And why do you need a wireless adapter? And you are going to add the price of rechargeable batteries? Who doesn't already own rechargeable batteries anyway? How much does it cost for PS3 owners to buy the component cables? How much does it cost to replace your controller's batteries when they die? How much more power to you have to pay over the live of playing games? I mean, might as well factor in the weight difference of the two consoles and the cost of the difference in calories you burned carrying them to your car and house in terms of food.
And don't include the cost of Xbox Live in there. The service is worth the money. Four dollars a months for kick ass, community online MP is fine with me. If Sony gave me the option of paying for good service that works 99% of the time and came with people that play online, I would jump at that.
I guess you just saw the metascores of Resistance 2 and GoW2, huh? Being a fanboy who doesn't have both, or all three, consoles you have to talk stupid smack so you can sleep at night?

Refurbished 20GB HDD's only come with a 3-month warranty and that doesn't cut it IMO....and they were used at one point too enough to warrant them a refurb so you're taking a chance, but yes you can buy refurbs, but that's not representing the average consumer.....

The 80GB PS3 comes with a DS3 out of the box
Also, why would you get a wired USB headset for $19 when you could get a brand new Jabra Bluetooth 1.2 headset w/ up to 8 hours of talk time from BB for $20? It can also work with your phone if it supports bluetooth as well so dual-purpose.....

First off, F*** you for calling me an idiot. You are taking me way to seriously. I'm trying to best represent what he meant by saying the 360 is "cheap" when in actuality it can still cost a pretty penny if you are true gamer who wants all the extras, but doesn't know he/she wants it until later....Also, I just got back from work late and was checking what I missed and ran across this article and saw something I felt was being misrepresented and that did have another side to it, something you don't see. Everyone is different when they make purchases and I can tell you that most of friends that have 360's would've bought the Arcade version first b/c it was cheap and then would've started wanting more and more very quickly afterwards. Do you know why that is? It's b/c they aren't like US, the people who actually know EVERYTHING there is that is offered in order to make the best decision(s)...anyways /rant...back to watching the end of The Office....

It's not as if hard drives are the same as buying a used system or used game. It's memory storage. Refurbished hard drives only mean they wipe the code that recognizes the system it was once attached with.
It's perfectly safe. A 3 month warranty really pertains to the consumer damaging it, not damaged on it's own.

Well, refurbished is a term used by retailers when preparing a product for resale. This can mean fixing, polishing or a simple memory wipe.
It's safe to say that most 20gb HDDs were traded in for 60 or 120gb HDDs meaning they are still in great shape, it's just the consumer wanted more space.
I think your friend is fine with getting a refurbished 20gb HDD. :D
