Gears of War 2 is headed to retailers in a few days and we know every "loyal"
Gears fanboy will be attending a midnight release late Thursday evening. You know, to score that sweet
golden Hammerburst. Even cooler is that some fanboys will be lucky enough to be located near one of the many Microsoft sponsored BIG
Gears 2 launch events across the globe.
If you're a fanboy living in or around Los Angeles, New York, Seattle or London, then you should be super excited, because these are the BIG
Gears 2 launch event cities. At each location, various Epic folks (Cliff Bleszinski, Josh Ortega, Rod Fergusson, etc.) will be chatting it up, handing out swag and giving out high fives. Check the break for BIG launch event locations and details.

- "Gears of War" comic book artist Liam Sharp and Microsoft Game Studios staff will be on location to participate in the launch activities and give away "Gears of War 2" merchandise.

- Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson will MC the event, which will feature special appearances and autograph signings by Cliff Bleszinski of Epic Games. "Gears of War 2" voice actors including John DiMaggio (Marcus Fenix), Lester "Rasta" Speight (Augustus Cole) and Carlos Ferro (Dominic Santiago) will also be in attendance. Additionally, fans will have the unique opportunity to mug with a real life "Delta Squad" – costumed characters from Nightmare Armor Studios will be patrolling the GameStop, and tons of free "Gears of War 2" merchandise will be given away throughout the evening.

....I wish I would have known this before I preordered it at my local gamestop, because the LA event is only like 30 mins from my house....weak.....I wonder if I can ask gamstop if they will let me pick it up at the other one....I still might go, sounds pretty sweet...

Just bring in your receipt and tell them you want a refund. If they give you shit, ask them to show you their "no refund" policy on pre-orders... they won't be able to show you anything official and you will get your refund.

I'm 15 minutes from the La citywalk gamestop. I'm going fo' sho'.It's my first launch event so I'm pretty unsure of the whole thing. With my luck I probably won't even get a preorder in. Much less a copy.
Also it says lineups won't begin before 11a.m. That's when the store opens up, so it doesn't really make sense. I talked to the manager a couple weeks ago about it and he told me I could show up early morning, line up, preorder my copy, get a special bracelet, and show up in the evening to line up again with my original placing. I'm calling again tomorrow.

this is so frustrating because i did not know where to preorder the game from due to these midnight locations not being available until last week. now all of the limited editions are sold out and i cannot preorder it anymore! HORRIBLE IDEA! these locations should ahve been revealed by gamestop and best buy MONTHS ago

Ugh, I live in Derby UK and as far as i know there is no shop open at all for a midnight launch. Gutted.
Might have to ask my friend who can drive if he fancies going on a road trip down to London lol.

Day booked off work, pre-ordered through game, shipped yesterday so likely to arrive tmrw morning anyway knowing games rep for early pre-order delivery. So why the hell would I want to goto London anyway. I may have considered it if these dates werent revealed so stupidly late, but Im pretty happy that everything is in place. Now ive just gotta pray that those red rings dont reeturn. Although if they do im buying a new console anyway, lol.
