A short preview from the Sci-Fi channel special about Gears of War 2 has been released, showcasing the game's story with commentary from the game's creators and ... a basketball player? Suffice it to say that the gathering of people discussing Gears of War 2 is definitely different. A few game industry professionals seem fairly on par for such a video, but seeing Zach Levi (NBC's "Chuck") Aisha Taylor from The Ghost Whisperer and Luke Walton from the LA Lakers is just a bit odd. Granted, we're sure they're fans of the game, but it seems a bit out of place, like Charles Barkley showing up in a documentary about Gore Vidal.
But hey, at least it kills a few more minutes while we wait to actually play Gears of War 2.
hey anybody got news about cliffy b showing up at the gamestop in City Walk Hollywood CA. I heard something on the radio but didn't get the full details.
GameStop at Universal City Walk, 1000 Universal Studios Blvd, Universal City, CA 91608 Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson, autograph signings by Cliff Bleszinski, voice actors John DiMaggio (Marcus Fenix), Lester "Rasta" Speight (Augustus Cole) and Carlos Ferro (Dominic Santiago). "Delta Squad" – costumed characters from Nightmare Armor Studios will be there (bring your camera). Note that lineups will not begin before 11 a.m. PST.
Zachary Levi has become a pretty big star... He is the nerd's hero on his show Chuck... Chuck has become pretty big, so I would definitely not consider him C-list...
I made friends with an NBA'er and also USA Olympic b-ball gold medalist who plays the 360 and he's on my friends list now. he's a legit gamer. one night we had like 8 NBA'ers in our party. It was pretty cool to hear all these high paid athletes arguing back and forth.
so I suppose that the only people that play video-games are nerds? why would it seem odd or out of place that celebrities play and comment on video games?. Thats the problem with these blogs, and tv shows (g4). Come over my house or anybody else that I know personally and ge ton the sticks, you will see the "nerd" count at Zero.
Hey, I don't care what they do professionally, all I'll say is they seemed genuinely players of Gears. Aisha Taylor said the locusts deserved to have their guts thrown down some stairs, then named one of my favorite maps... Mansion, awesome.
Good stuff right there, Gears is getting the hype baby! Where's your hype Sony... WHERE!?
If Aisha Tyler's skills at GeoW are anything like her skills in Halo, be afraid. Be very afraid. I've heard he totally kicks ass at Halo, and she's a hardcore gamer.
I don't know who that chick from "The Game Show" is, but...calling Dom a wuss? Pu-leeze. Action games need depth in story as well. If all it was was just shooting and killing, it'd be a lot more boring. Besides, who doesn't like Dom? I mean, he's no Cole, but still....don't rip on Dom.

The white girl that seemed horribly horribly out of place? I don't know, but she was pretty damn annoying.

Um... I haven't heard of any of these 'celebrities'
Cal @ Nov 5th 2008 7:07PM
Also, presuming by 'The Escapist' they mean what I think, how dare they not get Ben Croshaw on there

Sorry to break this to you, dude. Watching G4 and reading any blogs, let alone videogame blogs, pretty much means you're a nerd.
By the way, being a nerd is a good thing and it's not like you have to look anything like Steve Urkel to be a nerd.
bigphill @ Nov 5th 2008 7:04PM
I meant to say "get on" the sticks
