Gears of War 2 golden weapon download issue supposedly fixed [NXE Update]

Update: As stated in the title the update was supposedly fixed and for some it was, others are still experiencing issues with the download.

You've sent in the tips, we've reported the issue and everyone involved has waited patiently for the gold-plated weapons download problem in Gears of War 2 to be fixed. According to the Gears 2 community manager the issue can be fixed by going through a relatively painless procedure. Here's what you have to do to get your golden guns downloaded:

Launch the Xbox Dashboard
Sign into your Profile
Go to the Marketplace blade
Select "Account Management"
Select "Download History"
Under the "Games" section, select "Gears of War 2 Gold-Plated Lancer Assault Rifle"
When the blade appears, select "Download Again"
Wait until the "download complete" confirmation toast appears

The process should also work for the gold Hammerburst weapon given to gamers during midnight launch events.

Jump in to find out to fix the issue if you have the NXE.

Fixing the issue from the NXE is slightly different:

Launch the Xbox 360 Dashboard
Sign into your Profile
Go to the My Xbox channel
Select your profile (second selection) and press A
Select "Account Management"
Select "Download History"
Under the "Games" section, select "Gears of War 2 Gold-Plated Lancer Assault Rifle"
When the blade appears, select "Download Again"
Wait until the "download complete" confirmation toast appears

I don't have this, but can you turn off the goldenness when in-game without removing the download from the hard drive?

As for the DLC, I didn't have any problems downloading the gold lancer/hammerburst or the maps, I wonder why other people have.

Nah look for the insert that has the Bonus Map Pack code on it. That has the Bonus Map pack code, the Gold Lancer code and the 48 hr XBL Gold code.

The download is not working for me. It sits at 1% and then give me an Xbox Live Marketplace error: Status Code 80070570 and tells me the download could not be completed.

I've tried the suggestion above but I am still unable to download the gold plated gun. I was however able to download the maps without problem. Any thoughts?

Same issue, and nothing is working. Sometimes I get the error code, sometimes it just says "Download failed" and dumps me back to the main screen.

The only good thing is that I'm in no rush to play online... and I was also thankful to get the hammerburst, which works just fine...

But seriously, they bugger Canadians over on the french hardcover art book, and then THIS happens, too?

same here, i was able to download the maps, golden hammerburst, BUT the lancer gets stuck at 1% and it gives me an error code, after 30 minutes with my xbox support (because i thought i was the only one with this problem) i got nowhere, they wouldnt give me another code, they just said that it was a known problem and that they working with epic to fix it and to check back tomorrow 8 PM eastern or to try the redownload solution in 12 hours

Nope. Doesn't fix the problem. I easily downloaded the Map Pack with no problems but my Gold Lancer code hangs at 1% and eventually fails. Such a random way for it not to work especially when it shows up on your Download History.

If you are still having an issue, just keep trying. I got the error code 3 times and on the 4th time it just went through. Just keep at it.

Update -

I was finally able to download the gold lancer this morning. I tried about 3 more times this morning and it finally went through. It hit 1% and waited for 30 seconds and then went to 28% and finished.

In all I tried about 18 times (about 15 yesterday and 3 today) - So good luck to those still trying, I guess keep it up and hopefully it will work.

Now 2:41pm Eastern Time and still not working. And for those who are saying keep trying... earlier today I decided to just keep trying it while I caught up on some DVR... So put the tiny picture in picture of the xbox screen in bottom of page... and FOR AN HOUR kept trying over and over again while watching TV.... Must have been close to 30 times in a row...nothing...

I hope EPIC is looking into fixing this, not just figuring people will eventually get it to work by continuous tries. I mean so far only official comment I saw was "hey go to account management and previous downloads, then just redownload it!" Because that helps the 10% of people who think they totally lost the code and, but what about the other 90% who knew to do that and continue doing that and it still doesn't work?

This is going to sound random. But I have a feeling it takes a while for it to kick in.

And by that I mean say if you redeemed the code yesterday. It will take a full day till you can actually download it whether your constantly trying or just go to sleep. Granted there is nothing really to base this on just seems it might be a slight possibility.

Havin' the same problem, I just called in and they tried to fix it, but it won't download, they told me to try it again in two days.

I paid 850 pesos for it (65 dollars is the price of the collectors edition in Mexico) and I just one of my friends downloaded it, all the others could'nt.

whenever i download the lancer and hammer burst they both say 56 KB on my memory section but say 108 KB on download section.......is there something wrong with that? both my gamestop GoW2 theme and flashback map pack downloads worked just fine. and are the gold plated weapons usable during like bot matches?

I have just done my gold lancer and map download but i could not download it b4 but i know the reson now..... the first time i was doing it i was type in the code then move to the next one but i think the xbox LIVE did cut out with out me know in and when u download some thing and it cut out it remove what ever you are down loading b4 so when u type the code the 2nd time it will say not vailed becasue the code you type is already been used on ur user name. So I tryed the way they was saying to do it above and it work :) if you have tryed to download it and it is giving you a error: Status Code keep trying and if it is still doing the same thing you should just call xbox line its a free phone number and i know every one would like to get what they have payed for must of the time i call them about my xbox they r very helpful... good luck every 1
