Far Cry 2 becomes a million copy selling member

Thanks in part to its much hyped map editor, Far Cry 2 has sold one million copies worldwide across all platform since its release a few weeks back. Congrats!
One million copies is nothing to take lightly, seeing that Ubisoft's Far Cry 2 has been (for the most part) under the gaming radar thanks to this Fall's blockbuster gaming lineup that is a bit crowded. We raise our glass to Ubisoft in hopes of seeing another Far Cry grace the 360 with even more explosive goodness and maybe an even more advanced map editor. Maybe ...

I like the multiplayer, and I also enjoy the single player. Of the two, obviously single player gets old faster, but it's still fun to come back to, which is more than I can say for a lot of single player games.
Multiplayer only tends to suck if you get on a really crappy map someone has made where everyone is too far apart, or it's simply a boring layout. Otherwise it's really fun. I still see plenty of people playing it so I know it's not just me.

i gave up after it was obvious that it was "crappy shooter that was given the Far Cry name so they can sell alot of copies on name recognition"

That's how I feel as well. The graphics look great, but it just comes of as a game with no personality and quite far from the original Far Cry. The PC Far Cry 1 is still the best of all the games in the Far Cry franchise.

I agree!, its a huge area great graphics but no direction. Also what the heck with saving! everytime at the moment I save and continue it randomly overites a previous save, with the old time data data, then I have to scroll back and find it and seeing as most are at the save boxes in the safe house they all look the same! Original Far Cry like gears is simple, shoot move forward, objective complete etc etc. This is another Oblivion Fall out 3 expansive Yawn!

It's a solid game. Not for everyone as some may find the driving and repetitiveness tedious, but the gun battles and numerous ways to take on a mission keep it entertaining and enjoyable for most FPS fans.
Although I had no problems with saves and beating the game, there are a lot of posts about save issues on the Far Cry forums.
Multiplayer is a bit weak and just can't hang with other top games out there. Map editor is cool.

The game is riddled with bugs that will 100% prevent you from completing the game and story. It's ridiculous. I got all the way to 88% before I hit a very common bug that won't allow any progress no matter what.

not saying there aren't issues with the game saves, but it certainly doesn't happen to everyone. I had no issues completing the game.

Wow.. the reviews I read on it were great, I was really wanting to pick this up. If it's that bad, I think I'll pick up something else instead.

My main problem is the health system. Had the health system been improved the game would've automatically been 100x more awesome because I actually would've been able to take on situations the way I wanted to instead of being limited to basically hiding. Which you can't really do in empty African planes. The aiming is also somewhat a hassle. And I couldn't hit someone with a sword if my life depended on it.

I really like a lot about Far Cry 2. The graphics are great. I love the open world. And I love how on a console I am able to run around in an open world without seeing loading screens. I've seen only one glitch and that was early on where the game just froze up on me at a saving point. I just resumed from the last save point and the next time I didn't have this issue. I also really like the map editor, although I haven't played that much of the multiplayer. I did enjoy it when i was playing though.
Now for the bad. I do agree with what others are saying. 1. The name is completely for name recognition. Has nothing to do with the original Far Cry. They should have went with something like Far Cry Africa or something. 2. The driving back and forth can get a little old. They attempted to remedy this by adding the bus stations so that you don't have to drive all around. But it still is a lot of back and forth. 3. the console version should have an option to save at anytime just like on pc. I don't see why they couldn't do that.
In the end it suffers from what games like GTA suffer from. You feel like you are just running back and forth all over the place doing the same types of things. And that does get old. I still haven't finished GTAIV because of that. I'd still recommend that any gamer buy the game though.

One thing I forgot to mention. The voice acting. Horrible. I heard someone else describe it as "they are speaking without using punctuation."
It's like they are trying to make it sound like they are speaking with an African Accent (see the movie blood diamond for a reference) but they got it all wrong. It's just like they are talking really really fast and ignoring any feeling towards what they are saying. Very fake sounding.

Absolute garbage !!!
Both SP and MP are terrible . UBI conned us all , and the critics who gave it a thumbs up have lost respect .

I have to agree with Bubba .
Never have I seen a game which has been such an over hyped , falsely sold , or badly constructed game as Far Cry 2 .
They called it Far Cry simply to get sales , and the community were lied to completely by the UBI dev team .
It's as though the game was rushed out , to get it on the shelf in time for Christmas , and the problems with it are endless .
The PC gamers especially are up in arms , and you've got to feel sorry for them after the support they gave FC 1 .
The UBI forums are FULL of complaints , and every page reveals a negative about the game , and what is funny , is that the majority of them appear to be justified .
So much for a 50km square map that is explorable , and destructable .
It's ALL lies from UBI , and the Critics must have taken a huge bung from UBI to give it a good review .
I loved FC1 , and just like Bubba , was an FC admin , but this game won't last 2 minutes . It is awfull !!
As for multiplayer , jeez , you would think UBI had never made a game before . NO ASSAULT ??? WTF ?
I'm serious guys . I'm not just sticking a knife in here . Just read the UBI forums to see what the community think of it .
Complete waste of money , and if they sold a million , then it was all sold on lies and false advertising , and had they released a beta , they would not have sold a thousand .
It's really that bad !
