Dead Space DLC uses stasis on your wallet
Hey kids, just a quick reminder that a metric ton of DLC for Dead Space has been released to the Xbox Live Marketplace today. What kind of DLC you ask? Well, if some random skins and special suits and upgraded weapons suit your fancy, you're in luck. Actually, let us take that back. You're in luck if you like all those things and you'd like to pay for them. Some of the items are merely skins, while others will net you firearms with extra speed or power or fully upgraded suits. There's also a brand new gun up for download as well.
Technically, we suppose these aren't merely downloadable cheats, but they're pretty close. Find a full list of the new content after the break.

I might care if I hadn't rented this game and finished it. It was fun though.....
Momer @ Nov 13th 2008 5:48PM
Thank god this isn't a multiplayer game...

Let the whining begin.
OptimumEDGE @ Nov 13th 2008 5:49PM
Am I supposed to feel f'in nickel and dimed every time I login XBL?
I mean I gotta spend ~25$ if I wanted all this, seriously? Gah damn.
I'm afraid of what how far they'll go to milk avatars once they're out.
nahname @ Nov 13th 2008 6:03PM
Title should be "Dead Space DLC uses kinesis on your wallet". They are not trying to freeze your money, they are trying to take it.

This is true.

Why anyone would pay for a virtual makeover of a character that only you will even see is beyond me.

this is essentially 12 horse armors. useless and idiotic. it's the kind of stuff they should hand out for free, or throw inside the LE package.
Delirium @ Nov 13th 2008 7:27PM
You WISH I was that fucking stupid.

This nickle and dime shit has to stop, it is a joke. But the funny thing is that it seems to be selling, so they keep on making it. You have to vote with your wallets people! If it is good buy it, if it is crap, even if it is inexpensive crap, skip it. I just hope that there is a way to turn off or block the inevitable inbound Avatar store/clothes mall. And while I am up here on this soapbox, why is Live not free when there are ads and commercials all over the 360's UI? I demand an option to turn off the ads while signed in to Live, even with a Silver account. I know that by not signing in I would not have to deal with the ads, but there should b a toggle built into the UI. If Developers and Publishers want to put ads in their games, then drop the price of the game, I think that it is 100% bullshit if a game that I buy for full price has ads. If the revenue these ads generated were helping reduce the cost I have to pay for the game, then I might be interested. In fact it would be interesting to see a game come out in two versions, no ads at full price, and with ads at a reduced price. I wonder which version would sell more?

So with that logic.. Shouldn't the channels on your cable system stop showing commercials since you're paying for a cable subscription?
You live in a capitalist society, get used to it. Besides they're ads for stuff on the service itself.
tfd655321 @ Nov 14th 2008 9:12AM
Who said I have cable? And care to take a guess why I canceled my cable over two years ago now?
Comparing cable which is an established subscription based service, to a game console, that has hardware and software that I have to pay quite a bit of money for is not exactly apples to apples.
EdgeOne @ Nov 14th 2008 9:29AM
Jcarpio was just telling you to STFU in a nice way.
Mazrael @ Nov 13th 2008 8:35PM
Hey, least EA made a decent game for once.. except for the turret bit - that was rubbish..
DICE even impressed me with the visuals, gameplay etc that I couldn't find in Bad Company... the one problem with M.Edge is the AI, it's utter crap (ie bad).. it's still trying to be a shooter..
There's a couple of sets of the DLC I'll be interested in, once I've beaten it a first time for 'one gun' chieve.. even on medium it startles, not scares..
Dead Space is the first EA game I've really liked since Desert Strike on the Mega Drive :D
Mechanical @ Nov 13th 2008 9:21PM
Oh HELL yeah.
The Genesis Strike series was so freakin' cool.
vadermaggot @ Nov 14th 2008 8:57PM
I hate dlc that sux and we have to pay for. these items shud be avail in game for free
and desert strike rules
ds fanman @ Nov 14th 2008 8:54AM
firts of all, dead space is unbeatable! what a GAME!
you dont have to download the armor and skins, there was an elite suite for free just a couple days ago, sorry if you were a lazy bastörd and didnt get it. anyways, you should get an military suite after beating the game, just buy it for 99k.credits in the "deadspace" shop.
i wished they would make a extra chapter instead of those skins trash, a small side story on the ship with a other person or something. i wanna stay on the ishimura :(........
KilgoreTrout XL @ Nov 14th 2008 9:02AM
I played through the first eight levels, and then fallout came, and then Gears 2 dropped as well. Going to try to get back to it this weekend. It's a great game.
But buying any of those things would be kinda stupid.
EdgeOne @ Nov 14th 2008 9:26AM
Enough wining about EA, they are what they are.
I want to know if the Heavy Damage Pack is enough of an upgrade I should give up a McDs happy meal this week.
Blackronin357 @ Nov 18th 2008 11:07AM
I have both free dlc suits and after reading the new dlc packs I think its "kinda" cool that their putting dlc out, just miffed that its not free! all that junk should be a $1 or less! Then I wouldn't mind paying for it! And ds fanman is right they need to add another chapter/ w his idea cuz i would sell for $5 bucks!
