Check your inbox: Last wave of NXE preview invites sent

Last night, Major Nelson announced that one final wave of invites to the NXE preview program were being sent. Specifically, another 10,000 lucky gamers have been given preview access. If you signed up for the initial phase of the program and have yet to be invited, make sure to check your inbox, as Microsoft sent out the final invitations last night (don't forget to check your spam). Remember, this is the last wave of invites, so if you haven't made it now, you're not going to. But hey, don't sweat it if you still haven't been invited, as the official rollout is only five days away anyway.

I am very excited for this update. It's going to be an all new Experience on an old box.

The avatars could have stayed with the Wii but I will try to make do.

I'm certainly looking forward to the new setup but it will be interesting to see how Live holds up when millions of users are all downloading the new update on the same day...

It should hold. They loaded most of the prep work for it months ago. It took me no longer than 10 seconds to receive the update.

Ain't that just great. I said screw it and illegally installed the beta yesterday, and then last night I get an invite. Anybody notice the irony in that? Hopefully this means they will enable my live again, but I'm thinking since I did something illegal my live will still be disabled until the 19th.

most likely you'll just be able to take the console online again after 5 pm Eastern time today. As far as I understand the way it works, you shouldn't be penalized for having it early.

man the same crap happened to me. my 360 red ringed right after i filled out the survey for this. i called up xbox and since i gave them my console ID to my old system i won't be able to just use my roommate's 360 with my hard drive on it to get the update. well i could but i would be banned from xbox live for a week. lame.....

So like yeah, got the email last night and should be good by this afternoon. I am looking forward to checking out the netflix portion more than anything else. I would like to load games on the harddrive, but that would require getting a new one. By the way, if I were to get a new one today, should I expect any issues running the new dashboard?

Also check your Microsoft Connect Dashboard. If it says you are in on that dash, you are in the program.

I did that and it says I am in, but I did not get an email (I checked junk folders, etc). When should it download? Has it already? Maybe my MS connect thing is wrong.

The download starts at 5pm EST. I doubt MS Connect is wrong. I checked it before when the other waves came out and I couldn't view it, but now I can, so I think we were accepted; just the emails are slow (that's what I hear from the other posters at Connect).

Still I might just be getting a lot of people's hopes up, but I think there's a good chance we'll get the download.

I'm going to call BS on Major Nelson and his famous "There's a good chance you'll get in" line. No, there wasn't. Without that key line, I think there would not be nearly as many POed people. Especially since rounds 2 and 3 had 10000 each, and Major's original post said he figured out a few thousand would even APPLY.

Yeah, I know its crying over spilled milk, but if you're going to hype the early release as a "treat" to the community, come through and actually offer it up. I'll wager there are quite a few folks who got it, and won't be firing up the 360s for a while, even without RROD issues - they just had a friend tell them to apply and they got lucky.
