Gears 2 is the new king of Xbox Live
After a much too intense (and admittedly repetitive) weekly brawl between Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4, where each fought for Xbox Live supremacy, we are proud to bring you news that a new game has chainsawed its way to the top.
For the week of November 10th, Gears of War 2 has achieved the honor of being called the most played game on Xbox Live. Surprising, eh? Gears 2 kicked CoD4 to the second spot, Halo 3 to the third (how appropriate) and World at War to the fourth. Now we get to keep a weekly watch on the Live most played list to see how long Gears 2 can hold the number one honors. We're guessing four months and three days. What say you?

Considering how horrible the Gears 2 matchmaking service is right now and all the complaints it is receiving I don't think it will be at the top for very long.

I was playing matchmaking with 2-3 friends yesterday, and it was surprisingly fast at finding other players. 2 days ago it was slow as hell, but I was able to get in matches 100% percent of the time yesterday...weird

Agreed. I wouldn't be surprised to see Left4Dead ahead of Gears.

Maybe when epic sees the how fast the game drops from the top of the charts they'll fix the multiplayer.
I still can't get over them making me wait 30 minutes to play a game then telling me which game type I'm gonna play. Bunch of fucking jackasses.
Isn't America sue-happy? One of you Americans find a way to sue them for this crappy multiplayer experience :p.

At first I was surprised seeing that COD4 was still above CODWOW... but when i think about it COD4 is f****G awesome. I have been killing Fable 2 lately but I miss me some COD4

Having played gears of war 1 from 06-08 i can say I've not played gears 2 online since the week of it's launch.
Hopefully epic patch it to shit cause right now it's trash, that #1 spot wont last more than a month unless they fix a lot.

Could be more if it wasnt for the long waits to get in a game. I just give up. I havent been able to get into games. After like waiting 5 min i just give up.

Wow. Nobody saw that coming. I must admit to GoW2 sucking up a good chunk of my life lately... but there is room for more than one top dog... I'm sure. I sure miss the vehicles of Halo 3 and may be returning soon. Hopefully all the teamkilling, quitting, loud mouthed jackasses have moved onto something else! Halo 4 better have bots!!! Anyone try UT3? How come that never made the top 10?

As a huge fan of the gears franchise, and still loving Gears 2 for its unprecedented presentation, Gears 2 won't stay long as #1. Give it a month, it'll rank down.
Unless Epic fixes the demoralizing lag, broken gameplay and matchmaking.

Honestly with how long matchmaking takes and how terribly glitchy Gears 2 is I wouldnt be surprised if it'll be knocked down to #3 after a week or two.
Epic must really suck at testing their games.

It probably counts as a lot of people playing when everyone is just sitting in front of their f'n screens with the "remote parties restarted the matchmaking process"
The original gears had the crappiest lobby system BS (I don't think I ever was able to play a decent balanced game of 4on4), but this is ridiculous. . .
Basically i've been playing horde, at least with horde I get a game in 5-10. When your controller powers down while your waiting for a game you know it is BS
